Through the language of food you will be told all the stories behind the Maltese capital city, its buildings, its culture and events and top of all its people who are a melting pot of various civilizations as is the food eaten by the locals a fusion of the same influences.

This will be the most amazing experience of Valletta you will get while trying different foods and drinks of these islands whether the traditional stuff or the more contemporary things.
You will be shown the beautiful Maltese Capital City in between of the different stops where we try all the food and drinks. You can rest assured this excursion will double up as your lunch for the day and give you lots of advice on where to eat throughout the rest of your stay.

Floriana
We start in Floriana, the suburb to Valletta, to see the storage area for grain and then walk through botanical gardens past beautiful monuments to get to the gates of Valletta.
Valletta City Gate
Take in the beautiful surroundings of the entrance into Valletta with the Triton Fountain and the Renzo Piano project which includes Parliament House.

We're sure you will love the fried date pastry sweet which we call imqaret. We also taste the baked cheese snack called Twistees and some sea salt chocolate along with the coffee.
The Maltese have pastizzi for breakfast and we will let you decide whether you like the pea or ricotta ones better.
A nice bottle of local beer at one of the Valletta clubs to wash down the ftira with.
We get to try the cooked infused Maltese coffee with chicory, cloves and aniseed.
We get to taste the local bitter sweet drink, Kinnie.
We end our morning having some nice ftira lunchtime bread which we traditionally fill with tuna chunks, tomato conserve, onions, capers, olives and other Mediterranean produce.

5.00Outstanding tour. Chris was our guide and shared so much about Malta and Valletta explaining so many different foods. We also got to see some of the key sites of the city. The pace was also perfect, with plenty of stops where we were able to sit for a while (usually while eating!) and opportunities to use restrooms. We loved some of the places we were shown and went back later on our holiday to enjoy them again. Chris explained that they keep the tour numbers low, meaning everyone was able to participate and ask questions as we went along. We have not done any other tours with Chris, but plan to return to Malta next year and will be booking with him without question. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thanks Chris!

5.00What a great tour! One word of advice… do not eat breakfast before going on this tour! A really interesting dip into the foods and flavours of Malta and some visits to some genuine local family restaurants… a must do in Valletta!

5.00This was an excellent tour - the perfect mix of history, food, and walking. Chris moved at a perfect pace, with not too much walking but just enough to see the sights and digest in between food stops. He was very knowledgeable and shared that knowledge in an approachable and understandable way. The food was all delicious as well. He made accommodations for our kids (12 and 9) and was very conscious of food allergies in the group as well. Highly recommend this tour and Chris as a tour guide generally!

5.00Chris was a wonderful guide. We learned so much about Malta from understanding the traditional food. It was great to visit local Maltese generational family businesses. More than enough food! Don’t have breakfast so you can try it all! Highly recommend.

5.00Perfect way to spend a morning in Valletta. Chris entertains with an interesting mix of history, current affairs , Maltese life and some quirky stories - all themed with food - of which there is enough for breakfast and lunch along with a glass of wine and a beer. The group size was not too large and all the food and drink is from businesses built by Maltese families - some going back decades.

5.00Wow. Don't miss this experience in Valletta! We had Chris as our guide and you couldn't ask for a better person on this amazing tour. Our group size was small with 9 people (we think the maximum is around 12) and Chris made the experience magical with his personality, humor, knowledge of Malta/Valletta and of course the FOOD. It was more than just a food tour as he pointed out important sights, history and tips for anyone new to Valletta. We were in Valletta on our own the day before and he really made the city come to life for us. What was truly special is that we had food, drinks and treats from places that have been around for generations and NOT in any tour books. This is a RARE insight into the culture of Valletta!
