Ladies need to wear head scarves and dresses in Georgian orthodox churches. Short trousers for men are also forbidden. Scarves and dresses can also be found near church entrances for men and women to enter churches. Comfortable shoes and warm jacket are recommended.
Standard Tour option does not include lunch, but you will stop in a restaurant for lunch.

Vardzia
You will visit Vardzia is a cave monastery built in 12th century. The caves stretch for 500 meters and in up to 19 levels. The Church of the Dormition, dating to the 1180s during the golden age of Tamar and Rustaveli. The site was abandoned after the Ottoman takeover in the 16th century. Extended area of Vardzia-Khertvisi has been submitted for future inscription on the UNESCO Heritage List.
Rabati Castle
You will visit Rabati Castle that was originally established in the 9th century as the Lomisa Castle, but was rebuilt by Ottomans. Most of the surviving buildings date from the 17th-18th centuries. The city was established in the 9th century by Guaram Mampal, son of the King of Tao. From the 13th-14th centuries it was the capital of Samtskhe-Saatabago, ruled by dynasty of Jaqeli.

5.00A day trip to Vardzia is a spectacular cave monastery near Aspindza in southern Georgia. It looks like one of the movie sets of Games of Thrones, but it is not the home of white walkers but of many monks. This underground monastery was built in the 12th Century, under the reign of King Tamar, the first woman that was ever crowned as a king (not a queen!) in Georgian history. In the late 1100's the medieval kingdom of Georgia was constantly under threat of the Mongol Empire. To help her people avoid the Mongol onslaught, Tamar ordered the construction of an underground sanctuary and secretly they started building this fortress under the Erusheli mountain. It was a gigantic job but the people worked hard with the determination that their culture and lifestyle should not be destroyed by the invading Mongols. It was an awesome experience to be there in winter. Vardzia looked so beautiful wearing its coat of snow! Despite the freezing cold, it was worth the visit! Especially since there was almost no-one around, except for a few locals who visited the church to pray. Our guide, Giorgi Lomidze offers a unique experience of adventure and culture. For the first two days I’ll have leisure time for skiing and enjoying the winter resort of Georgia. – For the third day we explore south part of Georgia, find out about its diverse history and beautiful nature. – They took us less touristic place in Georgia-Paravani lake, which will be unforgettable experience for me. – Our guides will not only give you detailed information about Georgia and sights you visit, but also will be your Travel mates, they share all the recommendations I need about entertainment and getting to know country like a local.
