• Palace of Versailles half day tour

  The tour itself was very good and the guide Alessandro was great and he was very knowledgeable. However, we had some issues with the driver both at the beginning of the tour and at the end. We were being picked up at our hotel and were out the front of the hotel about 15 minutes before pick up. We didn’t see anyone out the front or at least we weren’t approached by anyone so we waited. We asked a couple of drivers if they were waiting to pick us up to take us to the Palace of Versailles they all said no including our driver. After our pick up time had passed I made a few calls to the tour company Viator and I was told that our driver was waiting for us. They gave me a few phone numbers for me to call the driver and guide. Eventually, after 10 minutes our driver approached us, we had spoken to him earlier but he had said no that he wasn’t there to pick us up. No apology from him. Anyway, after a number of texts from the company we got in the van and headed off to pick up the guide who had been sent to the wrong location so we had to pick him up. By the time we picked him up we were already half an hour late for the tour. We eventually arrived in Versailles. The tour itself was very good and Alessandro our guide was very knowledgeable and informative and answered all of our questions. I had informed him that we needed to be back at our hotel by 5.30pm because we had another engagement and needed to get ready as we were being picked up at 6.30pm. When we left the Palace of Versailles at 5.10pm our driver wasn’t there and we were told that he was running a few minutes late. After a few minutes had passed he called the driver who had informed him that he was 15 minutes away. At that point I became angry as it was going to make us late and gave us very little time to get ready before our taxi arrived to take us to our other engagement. I then spent the next 10-15 minutes trying to re-arrange our taxi pickup. Our driver eventually turned up at 5.50pm which was 15-20 minutes later than we were told. We voiced our frustration and disappointment regarding the driver’s lateness. Given this was a private tour and we paid a lot of money for it we could not understand why he had left in the first place and then that he took so long to come back to pick us up. This was unacceptable and it tarnished and ruined our entire experience. This is not good enough Viator!

  The experience was pleasant, however the person had NO command of Spanish, NO understanding of what he was telling us because he was not Spanish and the tour was sold to us as if the person could master the language

• Excellent walk into French history

  My family took an afternoon tour with our friendly guide Gustavo, who is an art historian, with a deep knowledge of French and European history. We were picked up at our hotel on time and we headed out to Versailles. We first visited the expansive gardens and then covered several halls and their significance. We much enjoyed and learned a lot from the insightful commentary and would highly recommence this tour and guide to anyone !

  I had been to Versailles before, but this tour was fabulous. Hotel pick-up and drop-off with a guide that knew the history of Versailles and so much more. I highly recommend this tour!!

  This trip was tailored to our wishes and our pace. The guide was an art historian, extremely knowledgeable and delightful. He could answer any and many questions, even if not necessarily related to the nuance of the topic. He gave us all the information we needed, and included a very interesting briefing and discussion both to and from the palace. I would book again.
