Come and enjoy with us in a 1 hour ATV tour around the Volcano in Vestmannaeyjar and experience the unique view the island and its surroundings have to offer
During the trip, we will go to Prestvik beach where fishing ship Pelagus stranded, we will also drive around and view the scene where Guðlaugur Friðþórsson came to land after 5-6 km of swimming in the dark and cold sea after Hellisey VE 503 sank. We will drive around the lava and into the middle of the volcano Eldfell and along the coast, where the view is breathtaking.
This trip is recommended for all the family who will enjoy driving around historical sites of Vestmannaeyjar on a fun riding ATV. The ATV´s are automatic and easy to drive so no specific experience is needed. All ATV´s are 2 person where driver needs to have a driving licence, passengers need to be 6 years or older.

5.00This was the highlight of our week in Iceland. Mar, our guide, was excellent - very enthusiastic and engaging and really showed us around. It was also great fun with the ATVs being simple to use and v comfortable. We had 2 ATVs between 4 of us so just swapped drivers at various stages. Worked great

5.00Mar was such a fantastic guide - fun, knowledgeable and really catered to our needs and made it a huge success. The ride itself was fun but each stop was interesting and relaxing….giving us a glimpse into the locals and life on the island.

5.00We had an awesome experience with Volcano ATV Tour! Our tour guide Mar was fantastic! The original booking process using the operator's website was straightforward, no issues. I booked about 6 weeks in advance. The night before our experience, we found out the ferry schedule changed. We decided to reschedule to another day. Volcano ATV was very easy to work with and accommodating to our change request. The day of our tour finally arrived! The gear provided was top notch! We were given full suits, helmets with face shields, and we were offered gloves and neck gators. I used goggles I brought with me for additional eye sun/dust protection. Sunglasses would also have worked. The ATV's we used were in excellent condition! Easy to operate. We were given a chance to warm up in a parking lot before touring began. All instructions were clear. A fantastic guide can adjust to their audience, and that's exactly what Mar was able to do for us! She was able to gage our experience and made some adjustments to the tour to meet our skill levels and interest. She checked in with us to make sure we were happy and comfortable throughout the tour. The Westman Islands are beautiful, and experiencing nooks and crannies of the island on ATV's was very fun! I would recommend this tour! A few details about us to help you making decisions. Traveled as a couple, late 40's/early 50's. Not our first time on ATV's. We always try to book as solo drivers whenever possible (otherwise we would be fighting over driving the entire tour). We were the only guests on this tour, so the tour was adjusted on the fly to intermediate skill level. I got the impression the tour can easily be focused on novice riders and families depending on the guests.

Beware of ATV excursion on Heimaey

1.00Terrible experience. We were on the Regent 7 seas Grandeur. Had prebooked the ATV tour for three of adults on two vehicles for 7/18/2025. We arrived at the dock and there was NO ONE to meet us. We were three adults with no where to go to meet the tour operator. We were strangers in a strange land. We got off the tender but the tour operator was a NO SHOW. I suspect that the tour operator is a scam. Because we had booked a tour privately, we were required to take a later tender. The early tenders were reserved for those who had booked their excusion through the ship's office. While patiently waiting, we did see a string of ATV's speed by us. We tried to flag them down. They did not stop probably because they knew what they had done was WRONG. I highly sus[pect that the tour operator "double dipped" and sold our excursion twice. Once to us in advance and a second time to passengers who disembarked before we were allowed on shore. Most likely this person has done this before and will with out a doubt do it again. Challenged it on my credit card for $300+ but was turned down even though it was obvious that we had prepaid for an excursion that was not provided. TripAdvisor stated that we were NO SHOWs NOT TRUE.

5.00This activity was one of the best things we did on our trip to Iceland. Our guide Viktoria was THE best!! We had so much fun and she took us to an extra spot with a beautiful view and shared a lot of interesting things and history with us. We each had our own ATV which I highly recommend. We had a blast!

5.00An amazing experience with Viktoria as you are guided along a fun and exciting trail driving your ATV. Loaded with multiple breathtaking viewpoints and chances to take photos along the way. Viktoria also gave many interesting facts and great info at every stop enhancing the history of the island. Even if your a beginner driver, it's easy to drive an ATV and enjoy the ride of a lifetime. Perfect for couples as we did. Heavily recommended to try if visiting in the area. 10/10 rating.

5.00We had such a great time exploring the volcano on ATVs! Our tour guide was perfect - she knew so much about the island, the volcano, and Iceland in general. She took her time explaining things, answering our 1 million questions, and was happy the whole time. 10/10 recommend <3
