It was made a Game Production Reserve in 1971.. Popular activities include game viewing, bird watching, nature walking, and rock climbing there are nearly dozens of primary animal species including antelopes, bats, birds (such as violet Turaco, Paradise Flycatcher, Green Turaco Red-billed Hornbill, Yellow-fronted Tinkerbird, and Red-necked Buzzard), baboons, cats, duiker, guinea fowls, kobs, green monkeys, monitor lizards, African python, royal python, and zebras.

Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary And Cultural Village
For the past 200 years, the Mona monkeys inhabiting the tropical forest surrounding the small village of Tafi-Atome have been protected because it was believed they were messengers to the gods. In 1996, the village began broader efforts to protect their forest and monkeys, as well as to offer tours for visitors. As a result of these efforts, the monkey population has increased to about 200 and the forest, with its many species of birds and butterflies, has been preserved. The playful monkeys are wild but often come down very close to visitors when one can offer them Bananas...See kente weaving at the nearby village of Tafi Abuipe, Distance is 14 km by car or 7 km by trail if you walk or rent a bicycle. Time: 2 hours. Difficulty: 1 if transported to Abuipe by car or 2 if walking or biking from Tafi-Atome. Enjoy evening entertainment including drumming, dancing or stories around a bonfire (1 hour each or combined program)

Wli Waterfalls
Wli Waterfalls (pronounced ‘vlee’), also called Agumatsa Falls, is a popular and dramatic tourist site near the village of Wli not far from the Togo border. Most tourist make the easy walk to the lower falls, which is mostly a flat trail but stunning and beautiful in setting, made even more dramatic by the presence of thousands of fruit bats nesting high up on the nearby cliffs. However, the equally high and much more isolated upper falls is a special treat for those with the stamina for the challenging hike. There are inviting pools at the base of both falls where the hearty can take a chilly dip.....The 1st is the lower falls which is a straightforward 45m walk. The 2nd is a 3-hour hike and you’ll need some stamina for this one and a good pair of hiking footwear. The 3rd is a 5-hour hike definitely not for the faint-hearted...so it up to you to chose the options that suit your capability
Afadjato (Mount Afadjato)
Mount Afadja is one of the highest mountains in Ghana standing at an elevation of 885 metres (2,904 ft). The mountain is located in the Agumatsa Range near the villages of Gbledi and Liati Wote, in the Volta Region of Ghana at the border with Togo. ‘Afadja’ is the name of the mountain whereas ‘to’ in the Ewe dialect means mountain therefore, it is called ‘Afadjato’ by the indigenes. The correct name would be ‘Mount Afadja’ as ‘Mount Afadjato’ will be a repetition of the ‘Mountain.’ Mount Afadja is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Volta Region of Ghana welcoming thousands of visitors from around the globe annually.

it is an open market for people from far and near..the place is also the central market for all the villages around the area... The real market days are Mondays and Fridays and the market women display their items every day though but it get really interesting on the market days.. Wide variety of groceries, household items and clothing. ..good like rice, maize, yams and fish are sent from there to Accra..

The Volta Region’s first canopy walkway has been opened at the Ote waterfall in the valleys of Amedzofe in the Ho West District...this experience offers a beautiful view of the Ote Falls..

Hiking is one of the best traveling experience and one of the fun adventure one can get. There are many hiking destination in Ghana and hiking at one of the highest mountain in Ghana can be a whole great new adventure. 1.00We were supposed to be dropped back at our hotel. Instead, we ended up at a mall on a busy road because the car had a minor issue, which honestly didn’t surprise us since the driver was speeding around like a maniac the entire trip. They acted like arranging an Uber for us was a favour, only for us to find out later we were charged more than double the normal rate. If they had communicated anything, we would’ve just booked our own taxi. The car itself wasn’t really appropriate for the type of roads we drove on. The driver and guide were friendly, but not professional. It felt like they had never done this tour before. They spent more time taking photos and enjoying the trip themselves than actually guiding us. Very little explanation or information. We also had to ask for basic things like water and snacks. One of the activities was skipped and the guesthouse was not arranged upfront and therefore we had to sleep at the same spot twice (we were supposed to switch locations). And the lunch setup was honestly strange: two separate stops, first for our food, then for theirs. It added unnecessary time and felt awkward.

5.00We had a great time with Daniel and Daniel. They made sure we were safe and well taken care of. They never hesitated to adjust our schedule as it fit for us. They were lighthearted and fun to be around. Everything was as advertised. Great time.

5.00In August I had the pleasure of taking a private tour of the Volta Region in Ghana, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Both my guide and driver, both named Daniel, were exceptional in every way. They ensured I saw all the beautiful spots I had hoped to visit, while also being attentive to my personal preferences and interests. They thought along with me about what I might enjoy, always making sure I was comfortable and happy. Additionally, they suggested extra stops to visit whenever we had some extra time, ensuring I got the most out of every moment. As a solo female traveler, I felt incredibly safe and well taken care of throughout the entire trip. Daniel and Daniel were both open, and approachable, embodying the true spirit of hospitality. They were gentlemen in every sense, always respectful and considerate. At the same time, they were keen to give me the space I needed, allowing me to enjoy moments of solitude when I wanted to take a step back. This made the experience all the more enjoyable. I highly recommend this private tour for anyone wanting to explore the Volta Region. It’s a true gem of an experience.

5.00Kwame is honestly the best - not just a great guide but a wonderful person and you will always have a good time when he’s around. We did Mt. Afadjato and Wli waterfalls and I spent some time at his compound in his village. He showed me so much love during my time there and is always there for you if you need him. 100% recommend him for anything you want to do in Ghana 🇬🇭

5.00It was a very varied and interesting tour. Climbing mountains, beautiful views, swimming in waterfalls, walking through forest areas, staying by the water... lots of impressions that give you a good idea of the country of Ghana. The driver Mike was very experienced and you felt very well looked after every minute and if you had any questions he always helped and took your wishes into account. Guide Daniel took care of hotel accommodation, sorted out the food and finances so that you really didn't have to worry about anything. It was a relaxed atmosphere and a very interesting time. Thank you very much for that.

5.00Mike and Kwame were fantastic guides for a solo woman in her late 50s! Everything was set up so well, people were expecting us, things went as planned, on time, and it was so relaxing for me to not have to lift a finger. I felt completely and utterly safe and worry-free the entire time. As for these two men: well, I cannot say enough about them and especially Mike, since I spent two full days with him, and just 1/2 a day with Kwame, we’re so easy to hang out with and learn everything about Ghana through their wise-for-their-years perspectives. They were honest and just so approachable. Really, they made the experience more than any single thing I saw or did. That said, I loved, loved, loved the river ride, the hike in Shai hills, the friendly monkeys, Cedi Beads, the Kente cloth weavers, and the botanical gardens. I just so appreciate Kwame for arranging a tour that was varied and interesting, without feeling rushed, I feel like I saw and experienced so much of Ghana in just 2 days! I can’t recommend it and Kwame and his team enough. They will provide you a firsthand experience with Ghanaian nature, people, and culture that is worth every penny. Thanks so much, Kwame and Mike!!!

5.00I have been to Ghana few times.Mostly I make simple trips to many places until a feiend of mine introduced me to Kwame. He put up a plan to the Volta Region. since he is from there, it makes it simple for navigation..i love the natural and fresh nature of the place.I enjoy hiking very much and there are 3 Mountains there.. , Gemi, Afadjato and of course Wli upper falls that provides a perfect pick for me.I also got the chance to enjoy the Volta lake at Maranatha Beach Camp in Ada. Samona Monkeys at Tafi Atome. Thank you Kwame. Your passion for the work you do is beautiful. I highly recommend him if you need to travel in Ghana. Enjoy your Trip!
