Embark on an unforgettable journey into the heart of Iceland's icy waters with a whale watching tour departing from the picturesque town of Isafjordur. Set against a backdrop of towering snow-capped mountains and glistening fjords, this adventure promises a mesmerizing encounter with some of the ocean's most magnificent inhabitants.

Sjóferðir ehf is a proud member of IceWhale association which promotes a code of conduct for whale watching ensuring the best possible encounter, both for animal welfare and passenger enjoyment.Sjóferðir also works in conjunction with the UK based charity Whale Wise, a team of conservationists, scientists and educators, working to understand and improve the relationship between whales and humans.

Due to the high number of people asking, we would like to clarify that there are toilets on all of our boats.

All passengers are required to check in 15–30 minutes before departure

As you board the sturdy vessel, you'll feel the anticipation building in the crisp Arctic air. The captain, seasoned in the art of tracking marine wildlife, will greet you warmly, sharing their passion for these majestic creatures and the surrounding environment. Leaving the harbor behind, the boat glides smoothly across the glassy surface of the fjord, offering panoramic views of the rugged coastline. Keep your eyes peeled as seabirds wheel overhead, signaling the presence of marine life below. In 2023 we had a 100% chance of seeing humpback whales. If we are lucky maybe the occasional minke whale, orca or dolphin. Returning to Isafjordur harbor, you carry with you memories that will last a lifetime, a testament to the unparalleled beauty and biodiversity of Iceland's wild waters.

Our whale watching experience was fabulous! The guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the whales. They also expressed concerns about saving the whales in Iceland. We saw thirteen humpbacks! You will not be disappointed with this trip.

Best whale watching ever!! 2 groups of whales we followed swam right up to the boat!! WE got great pics and videos. We even had a 4 TAIL Flip at once - AMAZING!! Just an amazing trip. The crew was great including a visiting whale specialist documenting the whales for researc purposes. They donate part of each trips earnings into a save the whales research fund.

Tom was fantastic along with the boat captain. We saw at least 7 whales and one was a pod of 4 that we were able to watch for quite a while. Amazing to see all 4 tails up at one time. Highly recommend this tour.

Great experience and we saw loads of whales. Our guide Tom, was very knowledgeable and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed it - but dress up warm!

Just done a whale trip with this Company in Isafjordur Iceland and would thoroughly recommend. We were surrounded by humpbacks. Pick up is very close to cruise ship terminal. Very knowledgeable crew on board, we didn’t have to travel far, I.e. 15 minutes, to see whales.

We had an excellent trip whale watching in July with this company. The guide was knowledgeable and provided regular updates. We saw two whales- an amazing sight. The journey back was choppy and some people who stayed outside got soaked but it was all good fun! The boat we were on had inside seating and plenty of room outside to get a view of the whales.

This is definitely a bucket list item ticked off! I was expecting to see maybe one or two whales in the distance but instead our boat was surrounded by dozens of whales which were all really close. After about half hour sailing we reached the point where the whales were feeding, we then spent over an hour watching these magnificent creatures. We were joined by a whale expert who told us a lot of interesting facts about the whales and even the names of some of them (they all have unique tail patterns).

Amazing whale experience, they were so close to ship. Make sure to dress warm and waterproof! Rough seas, take seasickness tables prior and hold on tight.
