Booked this trip last minute as I really wanted to see the whales and dolphins and the advert made it seem special. The boat was clean and well kept and the crew friendly and informative. We sailed out a long way and with the sea breeze and sun disappearing behind clouds quite often it did get a bit nippy out there so best to take layers in case you need to wrap up at times. Snacks and drinks were offered throughout the trip which was fab and we managed to catch the spout of a Brydes whale at one point on the way back. No dolphins seen unfortunately. I was a bit disappointed overall with the trip as the advert stated that the trip was on a silent vessel and had a hydrophone so I was hoping to listen to them during the trip even if I couldnt see them. This was not deployed at all throughout the trip and I asked a crew member on the way back about it. I was told that is only used if sat amongst a group of dolphins and they can then lower it in and let people listen. For the price of the trip (£80 each) I did expect more than just a normal whale and dolphin spotting trip when this was part of the advert and sadly didn't get it on this occasion. I can't see it being able to be used very often by the sounds of it either? Also when we spotted the whale the boat stayed very far away from it which we understood but we felt a pair of binoculars might have been more beneficial to see more of the whale in this case? We could barely see it from such a distance. The crew member had a set of binoculars to spot the whales but passengers weren't given any. This may be something the tour operator could offer if guests wanted a better view. It was a nice few hours out but we didn't feel it was worth the £160 paid. Hopefully some of the money goes to the conservation of the dolphins and whales.

Kind and excellent captain, amazing catamaran, beautiful dolphins and whales (yes, we saw both). Supporting the whale preservation is really important and this NGO does a good job. Other comments about great explanations by the team are on point.
