I joined Xmas for a two-day wine and gourmet tour of the Kakheti region with my daughter. Our guide Tamna and driver Giorgi took us on a wine and gourmet tour of the Kakheti region. They were flexible enough to choose a destination in accordance with the wine and gourmet theme, and were guided carefully including the way of life in Georgia. The coordinator Tamna-san is amazing. On the first day, we looked down on the postcard-like city of Signagi while enjoying pomegranate liquor and churhela made by a local grandfather at the observation deck. Next, we listened to the formation of Georgia at Bodbe Monastery and had wine and food paired at the restaurant "Lead Tears" in Signagi city. The chef has cooked a "grilled piglet" for us in Georgia for our New Year feast. The pork skin is crispy and spiced and very delicious! After dinner, walk along the world's second longest bulwark of Signagi. Beyond the Caucasus Mountain is Russia, and we think about the history of this place. We moved to Kaleva winery to hear how to make Georgian wine in a cellar built in a tunnel that was said to have been created during the Cold War, and sampled red wines that had won three consecutive awards. Today alone, the wine is delicious and I've bought five bottles, ... In the evening, enjoy a cheese hinkari at one of Giorgi's recommended local restaurants. In the evening, we will stay at the pretty SeventeenHotel in Terrabi. On the second day, we went to Terrabi market. The Terrabi market is a market with everything. The menu features walnuts, a must-have for Georgian New Year's cooking, pickles, cheese, meat, fish, and other items the grandmothers brought with them. I bought a hand-knitted vest threaded from sheep's wool because it was so warm! In the afternoon, head to Shumi Winery. If you nibble on the grapes that grow various grapes and become trees, they taste different. They plant rose trees on the sides of the grapes to detect grape diseases. Shumi Winery is a big winery, and it's remarkable to see handmade Christmas ornaments everywhere. I bought Saberto Dry wines that I also tried. For lunch today, I went to Leila's Hinkari shop. Leila is the protagonist of the award-winning documentary film Adamiani: Valley of Prayer at the Kraków Film Festival. Tamna-san was an interpreter for the Japanese director when he shot the film, and Leila trusted him completely, so we who came from Japan also participated in making Hinkari! I was wondering if you were going to steam hinkari, which resembles a Japanese pork bun, but you boiled it! I'm surprised. The resulting hinkari will be served with Leila's homemade wine. I'll be full and head back to Tribisi. Georgia is filled with Xmas lights this time of year. I've never seen Xmas ornaments decorated with so many different tastes. We hope many of you will experience the shining tribulations of the Xmas season! (This is not the ratio of Disneyland or department stores.) Tamna-san Giorgi, thank you so much for the lovely Trip. It was really nice to be part of this tour, with good wine and food, as well as learning about Georgia's history, life and more.
