During your personal tasting experience I will guide you through the distinctive world of Bulgarian wines. Although Bulgaria has been producing wine for 5000 years it is still relatively unknown to the rest of the world. Now a rising new generation of Bulgarian boutique winemakers are devoted to the craft and bringing new attention to our country.
You will taste 5 wine varieties of local grapes unique to Bulgaria, that can not be found anywhere else: Miskets, Melnik, Mavrud, Gumza and Rubin. Plus, local cheeses, artisanal bread and mineral water.
The tasting is held in one of the best boutique wine shops in Sofia – Tempus Vini, which is located on an artsy street in the city center, known for its fine restaurants and boutiques. And just a few streets away from Sofia’s main pedestrian boulevard.
During the tasting I can tell you about the wine regions of Bulgaria including the history and the wine culture of my beautiful country.

5.00Very nice and interesting evening with Kalin. It was very interesting to know the history of vineyard in Bulgarian, to discover the different wine regions and of course to taste wines guided by the advice and explanations of our host. We’ll come back for a new wine tasting at Tempus Vini Wine Point !

5.00We spent a wonderful evening with Kalin! He had prepared a very informative presentation with visuals and offered a nice variety of wines and cheeses. In the end our group of 4 bought 6 bottles of the recommended wines. It was well worth our time!

4.00Kalin is very knowledgeable of the history of wine in Bulgaria and wine in general which makes the tasting quite educational. The new shop is ideal space for 6-8 people; clean and bright.

5.00Enjoyed learning about Bulgarian viticulture, history, and wines. Kalin was very much a student and teacher of the industry. Really appreciated his insights and comparisons to other wine regions. We tasted 5 wines, 3 or which were his own production. The wines helped us explore the different white and red grapes while also sampling some very good local sheep and cow cheeses. Afterwards we were able to purchase from his store stock or those we sampled.

5.00As a heathen when it comes to wine I found it really interesting. Learned a lit about Bulgaria as well as grapes and wine production. Got to try 5 very special wines with accompaning cheeses. Knowledge host, they have TWO venues on the same street, this the smaller one. Toilet is very tiny, so go to the loo before arriving.. highly recommend

5.00Tempus Vini is a hidden gem in Sofia. The tasting felt personal and relaxed, with a great selection of unique Bulgarian wines you won’t find elsewhere. A highlight was the crowd favorite Pamid—light, fresh, and full of red berry notes, very easy to drink and quite different from heavier reds. The host, Kalin is very knowledgeable and made the experience both informative and fun without being too formal. The small group setting and cheese (from local producer) pairings added to the cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended if you want to discover something different from the usual wine regions.

5.00We had so much fun trying delicious Bulgarian wines and cheese! Kalin was very knowledgeable and made sure we had a solid understanding of the history of wine in Bulgaria, as well as the various wines we tried. I highly recommend this experience, whether you’re a dedicated wine connoisseur or just want to try something new.

5.00The experience was not a simple tasting but an encounter with Bulgarian wine history and culture. Kalin has proved to be an experienced teacher and a great connoisseur of wines, even of the world. A journey not only of wine but also of typical Bulgarian flavors (he served us a cheese board) in accompaniment to the wines. If you want to have an experience that is not just tasting wines, book with him: it will be a meeting that you can also crown with the purchase and shipment of your favorites. Again Kalin was very professional in inquiring if the shipment had arrived and more importantly if the wines were intact

5.00This experience was the perfect introduction to Bulgarian wines! The wine was excellent (as were the cheese pairings), and Kalin provided a very informative overview of Bulgarian winemaking and its history. I ended up buying a bottle of orange wine from Kalin’s own private label.
