Here’s a great tour combination for you, Salona and Fortress of Klis Tour! First, visit the remains of the ancient Salona, where you will gaze upon the ruins of a once great Roman city. It was founded after the Roman civil war under Julius Caesar and it was a striving town, three times bigger than Pompeii. Today, Solin is a beautiful town, popular with both locals and tourists. Afterward, you will visit the Fortress of Klis, a fort with the best view of Split and the surrounding areas. With a history of more than 2000 years, it started as an Illyrian tribe called Dalmatae that used it as a stronghold before it was occupied by the Romans. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the site became a seat for Croatian kings. The famous series Game Of Thrones was filmed there, so if you are a fan, this is a must!

5.00If you are interested in Roman and early Christian sites, Salona will not disappoint. Our tour was led by Luca who did an outstanding job bring the history of the site to life. Klis, meaning the key is the city of Meereen in Game of Thrones. Amazing fortress with less steps than I thought. The views are incredible! Highly recommended and a must do when visiting Split.

4.00The Kliss Fort is very interesting but difficult terrain. Be prepared and bring water and sturdy shoes Salona was nice but not what we expected not enough information. Aroumd the.site. Our tour guide was marginal. It was only his 3rd week and he didnt communicate anything unless asked.

He has an excellent knowledge of the history of Split (he offered it to us in exchange for a start of visit 1 hour earlier!) and the places visited.
