Only 12 people in the class. We were able to choose how we wanted to participate - cutting veggies or prepping the mussels/shrimp. The chef took us through the steps with lots of detail and passion. We also learned how to make sangria. The result was lovely paella that will make it hard to compare to future paellas - so delicious that it makes me want to not order from other places with the fear of being disappointed. A lovely experience overall.

We felt so lucky to experience this class! Not only was it easy to get to, but both guides were extremely good at communicating and checking in with us to make sure we knew where we were going and reminding us of the event. We definitely felt spoiled and taken care of with the unlimited drinks and appetizers as well as being given tasks and specific direction during the cooking class! It was everything we anticipated and more.

Manny (instructor) was a great teacher and local guide. The class was small (3 of us) which was helpful while navigating the already crowded market. Manny was great at teaching us about how to pick the best seafood for the paella and what his favorites were. He also gave us historical information about the market and surrounding area. Once we got to the class location, we were able to sit down, cool off, and eat/drink before we got to work. Despite there only being 3 of us, Manny made sure that we were not overwhelmed with tasks. He walked us through each step and gave us pointers. We had a relaxing lunch and great conversation. Manny made sure we had plenty to drink and gave us the rest of the paella but we were stuffed! Things to note: - if you do not like crowds, the market can be a little overwhelming but a great experience. We were not there long. We also had a few minutes to explore. - both the market and the actual location of the cooking class are about 10 minutes away from the meeting point, so be ready to walk. The dessert was also back at the meeting point.

If you love paella or want to learn how to make it, this is a definite must! Luca was our skilled chef and he was a very kind and generous host. His passion and love for food shows in how he describes his cooking methods. The class starts with a quick trip to the market, followed by sangria (or other non alcoholic drinks) and a great selection of tapas Luca quickly put together for us. From there, the group helps prep some items for the paella. Luca described each step and the purpose as he and the group makes the paella. The finished paella was the best meal we had in Barcelona and everyone left with more than enough to eat, good company, and new skills to try paella making at home (which I can’t wait to try). Phenomenal time, thank you Luca!

I booked the cooking experience to learn how to make a good paella since I learned cooking seafood paella online. Our chef is Andres. First, we went to the Mercat and bought fresh large prawns, mussels, squid and cuttlefish (provided by the tour). Andres is very knoledgeable and very entertaning from the beginning. Told us some histories and facts about catalan, barcelona and of course the art of cooking paella. After the market, we went/walk to the cooking place. They provided us red sangria, cheese and different ham and chorizos which are delicious. Andres then now explain the steps of cooking. He gave us different tasks like one is cutting the bell peppers, cleaning the musvles and cutting the legs of the prawns. Then he proceed to cooking. I was impressed how he cooked the paella. When it was finished, we ate the paella. I was surprised that it was so delicious. It’s our 3rd time having paella in town since we visited and his paella is so far the best! Amazing and I highly recommended for first timers in Barcelona. We loved it 😍
