Keito was a brilliant guide who was very knowledgeable and had excellent English. We really enjoyed seeing the beautiful gardens and thought the contrast in samurai houses was something we would have missed otherwise. Highly recommend for anyone coming to Kanazawa.

An amazing way to see the highlights of Kanazawa. Our guide, Yasushi, was friendly, passionate, and incredibly knowledgeable, making the tour both enjoyable and informative. The itinerary was well planned, and the inclusion of a taxi ride to the Geisha District was a great touch. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience the best of Kanazawa.

Absolutely amazing experience! This is my second time to Japan, and am staying for 16 days this trip. So far, this experience has easily been my favorite of either trip. Yashushi is an incredible person. He is kind, authentic, humorous, intelligent, knowledgeable, and passionate. He is a Kanazawa native who speaks English better than 99% of guides and locals I've interested with over the years, and he's actively trying to learn other languages as well in order to better serve all clients. Yasushi created a wonderful atmosphere and has physically designed this tour. His passion for Kanazawa, it's history, and it's beauty, and it's traditions are very evident in his guide style. He was extremely accommodating and enjoyable to be around while both dictating an effective/interesting pace and answering any questions guests had. I learned so much on this tour, but also gained a huge appreciation for Kanazawa all while having a lot of fun. Our guide was smaller, at only 4 guests, and cost roughly 8,000-8,500 yen per guest. That said, it was worth every yen and so much more because of the value of what we saw and the top- notch service Yasushi gave. If you are reading this review and the price has changed, I promise you it is still worth whatever the price if Yasushi is your guide. This is especially true if you want to see some of the most gorgeous sites in all of Japan while learning about the culture and history from someone who truly loves and admires his city. Given how accommodating Yasushi was, I would say that this tour is best for anyone who is willing and wanting to do a walking tour with the understand of what that is. It's multiple hours of casual walking with many stops. It has been my favorite experience in all of Japan, and if I am ever able to come back, I will be taking this tour again! Also, since Yasushi reads every review left after his tours so that he can improve it for future tours, I will say this: Thank you so much, Yasushi! You were amazing and should be very proud of yourself. Don't change a thing, and I hope to see you again some day!

I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am that we came across this optional tour. It's hard to know when you're traveling to another country what you should and should not see. Even though I knew I wanted to see the gardens and the castle, I'm so glad we had Yasushi there with us every step of the way to really explain why everything is the way it is. His visual aids and history lessons were so helpful in creating a bigger picture and helping us quickly connect with the area. Without this tour we would have left with some beautiful photos, but no real understanding of what we just saw. Yasushi's love for Kanazawa and his huge heart came through the entire day. He genuinely cares to share his city with others. I loved how he also went above and beyond and took us to a gold leaf demonstration and various tea and jewelry shops. He also gave us excellent restaurant and souvenir suggestions along the way. I'm appreciative that as he explained everything he included both the positive and negative viewpoints. He was both objective and honest. In addition to a wealth of knowledge and positivity, Yasushi was so attentive to any and all of our needs the entire time. He checked in regularly about food, restrooms, umbrellas, etc. Even though it did start to rain, we never really noticed because the tour was informative and beautiful. I've been on MANY tours over the years and Yasushi is one of the best guides I've ever had. His knowledge, personalized attention, and love of the area is very rare. I'm so happy we came to Kanazawa and had the opportunity to spend the day with Yasushi. We are leaving now with so much knowledge and history. 100% recommend!!!

If you’re visiting Kanazawa, I can’t recommend Yasushi highly enough! As a proud native of the city, his passion for Kanazawa shines through in every part of the tour. His deep knowledge of the city’s history, heritage, and culture brought each location to life, and he shared fascinating stories and local insights that you simply wouldn’t find in a guidebook. What really made the experience special was Yasushi himself. He was incredibly approachable, always happy to answer questions, and had a great sense of humour that kept the group entertained throughout the day. His enthusiasm for Kanazawa was infectious, and it was clear how much he loves sharing his hometown with visitors. If you have the opportunity to tour Kanazawa with Yasushi, don’t hesitate—you’ll not only see the city but truly experience its heart and soul. Five stars!
