Piva Canyon

Your epic 2-day adventure begins in Plužine with a mandatory gear check. To ensure a safe and successful journey, all hikers require suitable footwear and weatherproof clothing for mountainous terrain. Furthermore, each participant must carry a personal backpack containing their camping kit, sufficient water, spare clothing, and tent. Once prepared, we depart for the trailhead, driving past the magnificent Piva Lake and Dam. This striking artificial lake, often called Piva Canyon, was formed by the towering Mratinje Dam within Montenegro's rugged landscape. Piva Lake's incredible turquoise-blue waters vividly contrast the dramatic, steep canyon cliffs, a true spectacle on sunny days. The immense Mratinje Dam, one of Europe's highest concrete arch dams, is an engineering marvel. Mratinje

After a serene morning at Trnovačko Lake, your return journey begins with a challenging and steep ascent out from the lake. This initial climb tests your legs as you gain elevation. Once you top the ridge, the remainder of the hike is predominantly downhill, guiding you through diverse and picturesque landscapes. You'll traverse vibrant alpine meadows bursting with wildflowers, pass through fragrant pine forests, and descend into ancient, majestic old beech forests, each offering unique perspectives on the region's natural beauty. This rewarding trek culminates in the perfect mountain refreshment. At the end of the trail, a well-deserved cold drink, kept perfectly chilled by a natural spring-fed stream, awaits you. From there, a comfortable minibus will transfer you back to Plužine, concluding your epic two-day Dinaric Alps adventure.
