Quito Old Town

We depart Quito at 6:00 a.m., crossing the northern side of the city before ascending into the dramatic landscapes of the Andean mountains and páramo. Our journey leads us to Zuruloma—an extraordinary birding haven set at more than 3,000 meters (9,800 ft). Surrounded by sweeping grasslands and towering ridgelines, this high-altitude sanctuary offers breathtaking scenery and unparalleled wildlife encounters. One of the most fascinating aspects of Zuruloma is its location: tucked behind a historic volcano whose last major eruption occurred centuries ago, adding a touch of mystery and grandeur to the experience.

A hot spot for birding located in the Western Andes of Ecuador. An ideal place for photography, as it has a platform nearby where hummingbirds, tanagers, and other species come. Zuroloma is a place of peace in the midst of nature and green Andean landscapes. After this activity, we will have a short break to have brunch. In this beautiful place you can find species such as: Sapphire-vented Puffleg, Sword-billed Hummingbird, Hooded Mountain Tanager, Scarlet-bellied Mountain Tanager, Chestnut-crowned Antpitta among others.
