Salt Lick Lodge is located in the heart of a private Wildlife Sanctuary which lies adjacent to Tsavo National Park, therefore playing an increasingly important role in the protection and conservation of Kenya's wildlife heritage. All rooms are built in two storey blocks from a central pod and linked together by elevated platforms overlooking a salt slick and small waterhole.
Early morning and late afternoon game drives provide an ideal opportunity to view and photograph the diverse array of wildlife within the sanctuary. The water holes below provide a wonderful opportunity to view animals at close proximity in their habitat.
The lobby and terraced bar offer excellent views and photographic opportunities, while an underground tunnel and bunker with ground level windows provides unbelievably close, yet safe access to variety of animals as they drink water. Night game drive provide guests with an opportunity of seeing animals not usually encountered on daytime game drive.

Meet your driver/guide and depart from your hotel around 6am. Drive North, along the main highway towards Nairobi, following the route of the railway line built by the British, late in the nineteenth century. The road passes through the warehouses and workshops on the outskirts of Mombasa, climbing steadily and soon the vast plains of Tsavo become visible in the distance, with the rolling Taita Hills on the horizon. Enter Ngutuni Sanctuary for a game drive which borders with Tsavo East National Park. Lunch at Ngutuni Lodge overlooking a waterhole. Afternoon proceed to the Taita Hills Sanctuary arriving at the Salt Lick Lodge, built on stilts overlooking a waterhole where animals come to drink. Around 4pm proceed on a game drive that beholds captivating views of the Taita Hills. The Sanctuary hosts varied species of birds and animals that include Lions, Elephants, Giraffe and Zebras returning to the lodge for dinner.
Ngutuni Lodge is located 15 minutes from Tsavo east main gate and 1hr from Tsavo west and Taita Hills. Ngutuni is one of the lodges situated in the land of history where the European army camped during the construction of the Kenya Uganda railway where many locals and Indians were eaten by the man-eaters of tsavo but the lodge has finally converted the guns into cameras.

5.00Wow! What an amazing 2 days! Our guide /driver Hassan was amazing. We saw elephants, zebras, giraffs, buffalo, warthogs, gazelles, empallos, baboon, ostriches and sooo much more. The lunch at Taita Hills was lovely and welcoming. The room at Salt Lick was magical and a once in a life time opportunity. Lunch on the second day at Neguntini Resort was fantastic with multiple animals grazing at the watercolour so close. Massive thanks to Hassan for keeping us safe, navigating the roads and trying his best to find all the animals! Would definitely recommend this trip and its such good value for money!

5.00We had a fantastic couple of days, the accommodation was perfect and the safaris were amazing, saw so many animals, lions, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, impala, gazelle, antelope, ostrich, elephants….. it was truly an experience I will remember forever, the whole process was smooth from booking, our tour guide said was the best, very knowledgeable, kind and courteous always and we had the best time. 5.00This was truly a memorable trip from start to end. We could not have asked for a better guide. Julius was fantastic. Three Safari was spectacular and we got to see it in the afternoon, dusk and dawn to see different landscapes and animals. We were lucky to spot 3 lionesses on top of the many elephants, giraffes, and zebras. The accommodations were unique and very comfortable - had an incredible sleep. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The animals were super close to the lodgings as the watering hole was right there.
