Brescia, also known as "The Lioness", has been a greatly important center for ages, from the Roman time, through the Langobards and up to the modern days when the city and its notoriously proud and hard working people made it one of Italy's most appreciated, wealthy and progressive cities of the country.
Its fascinating Roman ruins, the charming bars to enjoy the typical drink "Pirlo" and some great local treats, its driverless subway system (the second one in Europe), the Medieval castle and the green hills surrounding it are just some of the great features you will experience visiting Brescia.

Taking this tour is the perfect way to experience Brescia. Whether travelling alone or in a group Davide has so much knowledge about the area, the conversation was really enjoyable. I was able to fully appreciate and learn about the area.

This tour was absolutely incredible! I would recommend this to anyone visiting Brescia. The tour guide was incredibly friendly, informative, and passionate about the region. We were able to see everything from ancient Roman temples, to medieval basilicas, to the three different squares of the city.

First of all, I would like to mention that by offering this amazing tour in Brescia, Davide Borghi and Chiara have done a great service to the city of Brescia and the tourists who wish to see and appreciate the riches this under-appreciated, under-represented, under-served-by-the-tourism-industry, beautiful cultural capital of Europe (along with Bergamo) has to offer. Chiara and Davide have created this wonderful tour and do a phenomenal job sharing it with eager tourists like me. “Umbrella Tours” is the name of their company, and they serve not only Brescia, but also many other nearby (Garda, Desenzano, Maggiore) and distant (Rome, Stockholm!) cities and sights that are worth visiting. Davide was the guide for the tour I took as a solo traveler. He made sure to connect with me the day before the tour, sent me clear directions for the meeting place and how to identify him. On the morning of the tour, he again contacted me to make sure that I had a good understanding of our meeting place. And like clockwork, he appeared at the meeting point right on time. It was a pleasure to meet and greet Davide, as I was eagerly looking forward to this tour. A bit of background to explain my sense of excitement and relief upon seeing Davide that morning: On my previous visits to Brescia, despite searching long and hard for companies that offered tours of Brescia, and even taking the help of Brescia Infoturismo and contacting dozens of travel agencies in and around Brescia, I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A SINGLE TOUR OF BRESCIA. When I was preparing for this trip in June, I was again scouring the travel platforms and websites for Brescia tours. When I found this tour on Viator, I could not believe my eyes! I signed up in a jiffy and was keeping my fingers crossed in the hope that it would really happen and not get cancelled at the last minute. On this tour, there were five of us with varying levels of mobility. Davies made sure that no one was left behind, while at the same time keeping up the pace such that we did not lose out on any sights. Since it was a Monday, many of the public museums and sights were closed, but still Davide made it a point to tell us all about them and encourage us to visit those sights later on our own time. Davide’s knowledge of Brescia history, culture, influences, language nuances, and anecdotal stories made this a very, very interesting and engaging tour. I don’t have words to express my appreciation for Davide’s perspective, dedication and commitment to tourism in general and Brescia/Italy in particular. Thank you, Davide. When, after all the walking (naturally, since it is a walking tour!) was done and we sat down for the promised included drink to top off the tour, it was under the umbrellas of a beautiful, scenic bar located in a picturesque, green section of Brescia. Davide gave us the story of PIRLO, the cocktail invented in and made famous by Brescia, and ordered for us the delicious drinks that came with tasty snacks that hit the appetizer-spot and had us prepped for a sumptuous lunch on our own (Davide pointed out some awesome restaurants and cafes where we could enjoy different dishes and cuisines). Truth be told, I don’t think any of us wanted this lovely tour to end. Thank you, Davide and Chiara, for finally giving Brescia and her visitors what was desperately needed: an awesome tour of a beautiful city!

We enjoyed this tour immensely! Davide was very informative and by the end we were in love with Brescia! Davide highlighted and described the mixture of old, older, new and not so new buildings all in the same line of site around the City Center. We appreciated being shown a map of the tour route before we started as an orientation. And the drink at the end was a fun addition. We would definitely recommend this tour.
