Queen's Staircase

The Queen’s Staircase, commonly referred to as the 66 steps, is a major landmark that is located in the Fort Fincastle Historic Complex in Nassau. It was hewn out of solid limestone rock by slaves between 1793 and 1794 and it is said that it provided a direct route from Fort Fincastle to Nassau City.

This Fort was constructed of cut limestone c. 1793 and strategically placed atop Bennet’s Hill to protect historic Nassau town and its harbour; it was built under the governorship of John Murray, also called Viscount Fincastle, in the shape of a paddle-wheel steamer.

Look no further—this rental place is AMAZING! My wife and I originally booked an excursion with 3 V’s Scooters / A.T.V. Rentals, but unfortunately it was canceled due to weather. Verinal went above and beyond by rescheduling us, and it didn’t stop there—he personally picked us up from our Airbnb on the other side of the island! From that point on, the experience turned into so much more than we expected. He gave us a full island tour, stopping at historical sites, beautiful beaches, distilleries, and even took us to lunch. We also got to experience authentic Bahamian culture in a way we wouldn’t have on our own. At no point did we feel rushed or limited by time—it felt completely personalized and relaxed. Both Verinal and D were incredibly kind and even acted as our personal photographers throughout the day. We truly felt they went above and beyond in every way. Easily a 5-star experience—highly recommend!

Great experience. Vernal Smith was our guide and he made it a great day. Allowed us to spend the time at each stop as we wanted. Caught all the highlights of the island. Will book with this outfit and guide again.
