Begin your journey in Alta, where a comfortable minibus awaits to transport you to the picturesque Gargia. Upon arrival, you’ll be provided with warm clothing to keep you cozy during this unforgettable experience. Our experienced guides will greet you and provide thorough training on dog sledding. Once you’re ready, you’ll have your own team of huskies. If there are two guests, you’ll take turns driving halfway along the route. The huskies will lead you through the pine forest near the mountain lodge across the frozen landscape. Feel the synergy between our enthusiastic huskies and yourselves, and embrace the crisp Arctic winter with the Northern Lights dancing above in the sky. After approximately 60 minutes outdoors, retreat to the historic Gargia mountain lodge. Here you can warm up with hot coffee and tea. Our guides will share insights about dog sledding and local history. We and our furry companions warmly welcome you to this unforgettable adventure!

5.00This excursion was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff were excellent really helpful and animal lovers. The dogs were well trained and exceptionally cute very friendly. We also helped feed and taken to there kennel. This was a wonderful experience and highly recommend.

5.00Great experience. Loved every moment. Our small group were all novices and the staff made sure we all had a great time driving our dog teams. They also stopped along the route when the Northern lights appeared and took pictures with our dog teams under the coloured sky. Afterwards we learned about the daily routine of the dogs and had a little play with them. Then social time with Norwegian chocolate and hot berry drink. Wonderful way to finish off a fun and exciting evening we will remember for a long time.

5.00This trip was the absolute highlight of our trip, which in itself was really great. We were picked up on time at the cruise terminal in Alta by minibus and brought to the camp. There we received even warmer things, which we put over our warm things. This was followed by a briefing. We could hear the excitement of the dogs from afar. The sleigh ride was a very nice experience. We went through the darkest night of northern Norway, only the stars and breathtaking northern lights accompanied us. We took a 2x break so the dogs could recover and we could watch the Northern Lights. After returning to the camp, we were allowed to take the huskys under instruction and take them to their cabins. We could then take a short breather with a drink and a small snack before taking the minibus back to the cruise terminal.

5.00This dog sledding and Northern Lights excursion was honestly one of the most magical experiences of my life. The dogs were incredibly well cared for and full of energy, and the guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. Riding through the quiet Arctic landscape at night with the snow under the sled and the aurora dancing above us was absolutely surreal. It felt like something out of a dream. The guides also took time to explain the dogs, the sledding techniques, and the science behind the Northern Lights, which made the experience even more interesting. Everything was well organized and safe, and you could tell the team genuinely cared about both the guests and the dogs. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting northern Norway — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Wonderful Sled Dog and Northern Lights Experience!

5.00We met at the appointed time and drove about 1/2 hour out to the lodge where the huskies live. Our guide Anouk was great! Our first stop was to put on their winter gear. They have full winter suits, boots, mittens, hats and extra wool socks. She next instructed us about how the sleds work, how to brake, where to stand, how to lean, etc. She then walked us through building the sled team and let us help put on the dog's harnesses and attach them to the leads. We had two sleds and three guests. I went with Anouk and the other guests (mother & son from Germany) took the other. You take turns riding on the sled and then driving the sled. She had the lead sled so she could both guide the way and keep an eye on the trailing sled. Along the way we were fortunate to see some great northern lights! We stopped and turned our lamps off so we could see them. It's really magical as you go through the woods to see the snow and ice crystals sparkling up in the trees! When we got back we watched the dogs get fed, then helped un-harness them and put them back at their house. They then let the puppies out to visit with us, which was adorable. After un-suiting from the winter gear, we had a hot drink upstairs. Because the northern lights we REALLY perfoming well, we hung around in the parking lot chatting and taking photos. We rode back to the meeting point in a nice warm van and said our farewells. It was a great experience. You could tell Anouk and the other guides and caretakers really care about the pups.
