Machu Picchu has implemented new visitor circuits, with three main routes with specific differences to distribute passengers in various areas. These changes are intended to improve the visitor experience and preserve the integrity of the archaeological site. The circuit with route 2 will be given as priority and if it is not available, the options of taking circuit 3B or circuit 1B will be informed so that you can confirm your decision before the tickets are issued.

Day 01: Welcome to Lima, City of Kings and the Larco Museum of Cultures

Arrival to the city of Lima, assistance, and transfer to the hotel. Embark on an exclusive tour of Lima's Historical Center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Start at the Convent of Santo Domingo, where you'll explore the oldest university in the Americas and view priceless artifacts, including the remains of San Martín de Porres, San Juan Masías, and Santa Rosa de Lima. Continue through the Plaza Mayor, admiring the Government Palace, Municipality, and the historic Cathedral with its colonial artworks. The tour concludes at the Larco Museum, showcasing ancient Peruvian cultures with its gold pieces, textiles, and erotic ceramics. You'll also visit the museum's warehouse to see the art of ancient ceramics up close.
Day 02: Nasca, Enigmas of the Pampa

Departure by bus bound for the bay of Paracas. Arrival and assistance to board the modern light aircraft of Aerodiana, Cessna Grand Caravan, at the airport of Pisco. We will fly over the desert sands of Ica before arriving at the great pampa of Nasca, where we will find the mysterious and enigmatic designs and perfect lines that cross this huge expanse of land. The designs can only be appreciated from the air, and this is what originates so many theories and mysteries about its function and for whom they were made. The well-known signs are the monkey, the hummingbird, the spider, the lizard, the astronaut, the dog, the condor, and many lines that look like landing strips. Listen to the theories and draw your own conclusions. Return to Pisco and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the time is free. We suggest undertaking an adventure riding in a dune buggy locally known as arenero through the huge dunes of the nearby desert. Overnight stay in Paracas.
Day 03: Paracas, Reserve of Marine Life

Early in the morning, when the sea is calm and without big waves in the ocean, embark on speedy motorboats to go to the Ballestas Islands, part of the Paracas National Reserve of Marine Life. An ecological system that is protected and regulated to protect the species that have made its habitat in these islands. Along the way, encounter a mysterious drawing best known as El Candelabro (The Candelabra), aligned in the direction of the pampa of Nasca. When we arrive at the islands, explore the great caves, refuge of seals, penguins and diverse marine birds that our expert guide will teach us how to identify. The curiosity of the seals will make them get close to the motorboats to observe us. Return to the hotel. Free time to enjoy the facilities of the hotel. At the scheduled time, departure by bus to return to the city of Lima. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.
Day 04: Cusco, Capital of the Empire

Arrival to the city of Cusco, assistance, and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, exclusive stroll in the city that starts with a visit to the Plaza de San Cristóbal (San Cristobal Square) to enjoy a panoramic overview of the city. Afterwards, we will visit the San Pedro Market, where we will absorb the local flavors and learn more about the products of the area in this market that has it all and supplies the entire city. Later, the Qorikancha Temple will welcome us with all its splendor and magnificence, with walls that used to be covered in gold. From San Blas, the artisans’ neighborhood, we will walk down the street Hatun Rumiyoc finding in our way the palace Inca Roca, today´s Archbishops Palace, and we will have time to admire the world famous Twelve Angled Stone. We will continue to the Plaza de Armas to visit The Cathedral that houses colonial works of incredible value.
Day 05: Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuaman

In the morning, we will leave behind the crowds in order to visit Sacsayhuaman, an impressive citadel full of colossal constructions surrounded by beautiful landscape in total communion with the environment. Afterwards, we continue to the Inca adoratory of Q’enqo, with its surprising altar for sacrifices embedded in the internal part of its rocky formation. Finally, we arrive at the Puca Pucará lookout and Tambomachay, a monument of notable architectonic excellence which is considered one of the pillars of the Andean cosmovision. Free afternoon to enjoy the city. Free afternoon for additional activities, or to cruise around the streets of Cusco. The passport of admissions that is included in this trip gives you access to other points of interest that are not visited.
Day 06: Inca Village of Chinchero, Terraces of Moray and the Inca Village of Ollantaytambo

This day we shall visit the most outstanding places in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will depart towards the Village of Chinchero, the most typical and colorful of the Sacred Valley. This village is famous for its weaving women. Short stop in a textiles center to appreciate the old Inca techniques for the dyeing and spinning using alpaca wool. After visiting the Inca plaza with its beautiful colonial church, we will continue towards Moray, a beautiful Inca archaeological site made up of concentric agricultural terraces that served as a lab to recreate microclimates. Lunch. Later visit to the last living village of the Incas, Ollantaytambo. Also, a visit to the Temple of the ten windows, the bath of the princess, and the Sun Temple. The postcard pictures that we will take from the heights of Ollantaytambo will close this magical day in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Lodging in the area.
Day 07: Machu Picchu, the Lost City

The much-awaited day to visit one of the 7 Wonders of the World. Boarding at the Ollantaytambo station. Departure in the selected train. Arrival at the Machu Picchu station. Assistance, from our staff to board the bus that will ascend up a winding road, with a spectacular view of the Urubamba river which forms a deep canyon. The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, will greet us with its incredible terraces, staircases, ceremonial sites and urban areas. Energy exudes from the whole place. Lunch. At the coordinated time, return by train and transfer to the hotel in Cusco. Lodging.

An Outstanding Itinerary Flawlessly Executed!

5.00First off, I want to be very clear that this is the tip of trip that I do not do. Lots of moving pieces, lots of coordination, all having to be completed as planned in order for everything to come off. You ride buses, trains, vans, and have to coordinate an internal flight from Lima to Cusco and back. So, while I loved the itinerary, i was very apprehensive about how it would be executed. Everything would have to go perfectly to make it work....and it did! VIPAC did an extraordinary job putting this all together, even customizing it to add a side trip in Lima. All of their drivers were great, as were the guides. All communications were through WhatsApp, and it worked flawlessly, even notifying me of a potential flight issue due to a planned temporary closure at the Cusco Airport. Expedia never bothered to notify me (the internal flight is your responsibility to schedule) of the resulting schedule change, and I was the one who notified them of the airport closure. The itinerary was great, with historical tours of Lima and Cuzco, a bucket list tour of Machu Picchu and a number of other famous archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley, the Nazca Lines, and a short boat ride to the Ballestas Islands to see sea lions, penguins, etc. If you can work it out, another day in Paracas would be nice, with the Pacific Ocean right there, it was a great interlude between Lima and Cusco. Quick note that the Nazca Lines flight is on a very small (10-12 seater) plane, and half the folks on our flight got air sick, most likely due to the hairpin, banking turns employed by the pilot in order to give both sides of the plane a view of the figures. Not sure if this was done to save time or add to the excitement, but that ratio of poor folks who had to do the walk of shame off of the plane with their little bags of vomit is probably excessive. The seas for the boat ride were modest and nobody got sick on that tour. Besides the great itinerary, there was also plenty of time relax and catch your breath, or fit in some extra stuff on the side. As for physical fitness, I made the questionable choice of engaging in this tour while recovering from a back injury and with a torn meniscus that made taking stairs a bit of an ordeal. And there are a lot of stairs on this tour lol. I survived it no worse for wear, but if stairs are an issue for you keep this in mind. As for the issues with the altitude (a good portion of the trip is at over 12,000 feet, more than twice the elevation of Denver), i took Diamox, my son did not. Neither of us experienced any altitude issues, even though we live and work at close to sea level. On the whole, I am guessing while keeping the aforementioned stair issue in mind, that most folks will physically be able to do this tour without any major issues. The accommodations we had (Sol de Oro Lima, Novotel Cusco, La Hacienda Bahia Paracas, and La Casona de Yucay), were all amazing, with great customer service, outstanding restaurants and very nice rooms. The vans used by VIPAC were all spacious and clean and in good working order. In closing, I am the type of person that takes a year to plan a trip, and am a control freak over every detail--which is why I tend to prefer trips with as few moving parts as possible. But VIPAC did such an outstanding job, handling everything flawlessly, that I without reservation recommend them for anyone looking for a bucket list trip to Peru!
