Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is the first and only ethical elephant sanctuary in Phuket where elephants roam around, bathe and sozialize freely across 30 acres of lush, tropical land bordering the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park in North East Phuket. We buy all rescued elephants to ensure that Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is their final home, and we offer professional veterinary care for old and injured elephants. By visiting us, you are supporting a sustainable, ethical and compassionate approach to elephant tourism where elephants have the freedom to live naturally. A morning with the elephants is an eye-opening and inspiring experience. Following a scenic drive along a local village you will arrive at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, a picturesque jungle dotted with ponds, wide open fields and hillsides for the elephants to roam around. Your visit starts at our Tree Top Lounge, where we will show you a presentation and educational video to prepare you for your encounter with the elephants, and to help you understand why they need to be protected. We then follow them down into the jungle. By keeping a safe distance and watching them from our Observation Salas, the elephants have the freedom to express their natural behavior, from bathing and playing in our pond to socializing with each other. The program ends with a delicious Thai vegetarian meal.

5.00This was a beautiful experience. We found it very emotional watching and interacting with these gentle giants - feeding them and getting to be around them up close. The Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is an amazing organisation that is doing great work rescuing old or injured elephants and giving them a good, natural and relaxing home in their twilight years. Really interesting to understand that elephants are very expensive to look after particularly as they live such long lives, which is why they home older ones only. Our guide Woody was lovely and very knowledgeable and let us spend a good amount of time with each elephant we came upon. 10/10 would definitely come back and do the full day next time

5.00Wonderful morning (half day experience) spent here! Great communication, everything ran on time. We were picked up and taken to the sanctuary. Snacks on arrival, followed by short documentary on Asian Elephants. We then fed the elephants bananas, walked within the sanctuary watching the elephants in their element! Great lunch provided, plenty of options and taken directly back to the hotel. Highly recommend!!

5.00We loved this tour. Gigi, our tour guide was so warm, friendly and intelligent. We learned so much about the care of the elephants and the unspeakable lives they had prior to being bought by the sanctuary and provided rehab care. We learned the stories of each elephant and their updates about the happy and free life they now live on the 30 acres. We were given an all vegetarian lunch which was honestly one of the best meals we had on this vacation which had already afforted us terrific meals.

5.00I am so glad I researched Elephant experiences before we came away - only when you are here do you understand the true meaning of sanctuary. The whole experience was amazing - the guides were so knowledgeable and friendly, the mahout truly have the most precious job and the elephants humble you all. A wonderful experience - and the cold towel at the end was very welcome! Thank you so much. First trip of the holiday so lots to live up to!
