The American Prohibition Museum, located in Savannah's City Market, is the first and only museum in the United States dedicated to the history of Prohibition. While here, self-guided guests will travel back in time to the early 1900s, as anti-alcohol rallies swept the nation and the “booze problem” was pushed to the forefront of American politics. The true story of America’s struggle with the liquor question, the passing of the 18th Amendment, its impact on the nation, and the far-reaching consequences of the 13 years of Prohibition all come to life within the walls of the American Prohibition Museum.
Upgrade to the Guided Tour Option or the Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option. Each will give you a fully guided 45-minute tour. The Guided Tour option also includes a period-accurate cocktail or mocktail. The Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option includes a bartending experience in our speakeasy tasting an Old Fashioned and MAKING a Bees Knees!

Guests of all ages are allowed in the museum during all operating hours, but photo ID is required at the door to receive a wristband for admittance to the Speakeasy. Guests under the age of 21 are not permitted in the Speakeasy.
Children 3 yrs of age and younger are free
Open August - March 10am - 5pm. Last entry 4:15pm. April - July 10am - 6pm. Last entry at 5:15pm
Emotional support animals and pets are not allowed.
Per Georgia State Law, there is no speakeasy service on Sundays. Mocktails are available, only

5.00This was a very illuminating guided tour of the museum. Our guide Tommy was very knowledgeable and interesting. The exhibits are very well-presented and engaging. I learned a lot about a very important period in American history. There are so many facets of American society today that trace their roots to Prohibition and this tour drove that home. Cocktails (or mocktails if you tour on Sunday) are served at the end of the tour. I highly recommend paying extra for the guided tour although the museum itself is a worthy attraction.
This is a “Must Do” While in Savannah!

5.00My son and I visited the American Prohibition Museum in Savannah, GA today, and we absolutely loved it. It was very interesting, informative, and entertaining. The exhibits are outstanding—well-curated and visually engaging, offering a deep dive into one of the most intriguing periods in American history. From the historical context to the cultural impact of Prohibition, every display is thoughtfully designed to educate and entertain. This museum does an excellent job of blending history with interactive elements, making it enjoyable for visitors of all ages. We particularly enjoyed the speakeasy experience at the end of the tour and enjoyed a mocktail while taking in the environment. It was fun to people-watch as other visitors learned about the 1920s era, including the Charleston dance. If you’re in Savannah and want to learn about a pivotal era while exploring beautifully presented displays, this is a must-see attraction. Highly recommended!

4.00Museum was really cool, if you do the self guided tour and not the group tour (with guide) then it gets to be a bit crowded as you need to maneuver away from the guided tour. Drinks at the speak easy were great! We ordered the French 75 & the mint julep.

5.00Fascinating museum! Definitely take the guided tour. Emi was our guide and she does a great job, sharing her passion and knowledge about this era in US history. The tour ends at a replica speak easy with a toast to the end of prohibition. Honestly one of the best museums I have been to.

5.00My husband and I were visiting Savannah with another couple. We walked up to the entrance and spoke with Bunny who helped us decide when and what type of tour to do. We selected the guided tour with a mini bartending session in the speakeasy at the end. The tour was well done with so much history, and the bartending lesson with Jackson was so much fun! All four of us were happy that this was one of our Savannah experiences.

5.00I took the guided tour with the bartender experience at the end. The tour was excellent with more history story telling than I can retain. I thought the talking portraits were a hoot. The bartending experience at the end was interesting and fun, but it was very noisy where they chose to have it.
