The Ellora Caves are an impressive complex of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain cave temples built between the 6th and 10th centuries AD near the ancient Indian village of Ellora. The caves have a slightly less dramatic setting than those at Ajanta, but more exquisite sculptures. Ellora is a World Heritage Site and the most visited ancient monument in Maharashtra State.

Ellora

Ellora (also known as Elura and, in ancient times, as Elapura) is a sacred site in Maharastra, central India. The Ellora Caves are listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and is celebrated for its Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain temples and monuments which were carved from the local cliff rock in the 6th to 8th century CE. The most spectacular example is the 8th century CE Kailasa temple which, at 32 meters high, is the largest rock-cut monument in the world.

Daulatabad Fort

Impregnable fort of medieval Deccan Daulatabad fort was one of the most powerful forts of the medieval Deccan. The defense system that made Daulatabad virtually impregnable comprises fortifications with double and even triple rows of massive walls. In addition, there are ingeniously built mazes with a complex arrangement of entryways and deep rock-cut moats and trenches which can be crossed only at one point, over a drawbridge. The defense mechanism of rock-cut subterranean passage is unbelievable.

He is a kind and safe driver. I had no problem without a guide. We probably overran it quite a bit, but they were patient. It is recommended to book a driver as taxiing around remote tourist areas can be a challenge.

Am excellent service provided by the driver and the manager/owner of the J K tour and travel. My parents had a pleasant experience traveling with them. They care and guide the elders. Polite and humble. I would recommend J K tour and travel to all who traveling to Ajnata, Ellora and Chhatrapati Sambhaji nagar.

The experience with over smart touts were disheartening. In Ajanta, the helper misguided that there is no point in visiting caves after cave no. 10. - the helper’s name was Ashgar Khan. In Ellora, the EV service was only to 2 points - in front of cave Nos 30-34 and cave no. 29. The fellow selling EV tickets told us that cave nos 1-28 to be covered on foot and the route map showing EV points will not be catered to. I have recorded this fellow’s comments also which can be shared, if required.
