Our first stop on this tour by Tartan Tours Scotland is at Bannockburn, the sight of the famous Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. Robert The Bruce led the Scottish Army to victory over The English Army led by King Edward.The Bannockburn visitor centre allows visitors to experience the landscape of the battlefield, and see the magnificent statue of Robert The Bruce. The new visitors centre allows you to experience the battle in 3D and allows you to decide who wins. The whole experience lets you learn about stories from the battle and the events at Bannockburn that changed Scottish History. The visitor centre at Bannockburn has a gift shop and café area to allow you to relax and unwind after your 3D Battle Experience.
Stirling Castle
Stirling Castle one of the largest and most important Castles in Scotland. Buildings within the castle date back to 14,15 and 16th Century. Stirling Castle has endured 8 sieges during its history the last being an attempt by Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1746. The castle has also witnessed the crowning of Scottish Kings and Queens including Mary Queen of Scots. A full guided tour of Stirling Castle is available, which includes a museum visit and the chance to buy further souvenirs of your visit at the gift shop and coffee shop.

5.00Hiring the car with Stuart Gunn as our driver and guide was one of the best decisions we made for our trip to Stirling Castle and Bannockburn. Stuart arrived early ..was impeccably dressed complete with tartan trousers! The car was spotlessly clean and came complete with chocolate and Ironbru. Stuart was a terrific tour guide. Very knowledgeable and helpful with all of our questions. He took the liberty of purchasing tickets in advance for the Bannockburn experience and overall made the entire experience seamless and delightful We highly recommend the private tour with Stuart as your driver !

5.00Stewart did a great job and felt like family by the end out our tour. This was our first time in Scotland and he was sensitive in not overloading us with information- allowing us to take in what we wanted at our own pace. He also knew the importance of these two historical sites to us and pointed out interesting information relating to our ancestors. Finally, we had a few special requests that were not part of the tour and he was able to accommodate them. We will definitely ask Stewart to help plan our next trip in Scotland. Thank you Stewart!

5.00We had a marvelous time with Stewart! He really took care of us — made sure we were comfortable and safe. His car was so clean, we thought it was brand new. His knowledge of the sites was amazing. He was so personable that by the end of the day, we felt like we were saying goodbye to an old friend. Highly recommended!

5.00If you want to see the “ Real Scotland” you must book one of the many tours Tartan Tours has to offer. Stewart masterfully crafted our four day Scottish tour based on our interests. He was able to curate a trip of a lifetime , keeping in mind my love of small villages, castles and picturesque landscapes and my cousin’s love for William Wallace and Robert Bruce. We were able to see so many beautiful and historic sites in our limited time in Scotland. Prior to the trip Stewart was a pleasure to work with, I was able to communicate my dietary needs( vegetarian and gluten free) and he did some preplanning to scope out restaurants near the hotel where I would be able to find food options. From the moment Stewart picked us up at the airport to the moment he dropped us off at our hotel back in the city for the end of last leg of our vacation, Stewart was warm, welcoming, patient and attentive. He greeted us enthusiastically each morning he picked us up in his comfortable vehicle, with a personalized snack and water waiting for us, and ensured we had reservations for dinner each evening. The tour package we purchased included lodging and breakfast at the Spinnaker Hotel. The lodging and hospitality was unsurpassed and the views of the River Clyde from the hotel were breathtaking. This was truly an experience I will always remember.

5.00I had a fantastic tour with Stewart. He was very knowledgable about Stirling Castle and Bannockburn and even fitted in a side trip to see the Kelpies for me which he also knew a lot about. Nothing was too much trouble. Really recommend Tartan Tours and wish I had taken more tours with him.
