This was our first private tour with Viator. We have had several others with Tours by Locals. This was a different experience. Our guide,Vincent, was very knowledgeable and passionate about Barcelona. Based on our past experiences, we had thought we would have input in the itinerary but that was not the case. When we asked about going to the war museum, he advised us that he didn't go to war memorials or museums because they made him sad and it wasn't part of the tour. He showed us the sights listed which were very nice and then would proceed to walk 10 to 12 feet ahead of us to the next site. He was on his phone texting or talking frequently between stops. When we went to the Sagrada Familia and he needed to send us the tickets, he was not happy that we didn't have the WhatsApp to transfer the tickets. He was adamant that we should have had it. I advised him that had we known ahead of time we would have activated it as we had used in past trips to Europe. We had told him earlier that we would not be able to go to the Park Guell due to the steps. After the Bastille, we had lunch and asked if we could drive by the Park. It was around 2:45 and his initial response was it would take too much time even though there were 2 more hours left in our allotted tour. He took us to the back entrance, the guards at the entrance said we would have a better view if we went to the front entrance. When asked if we could that, Vincent said it be too hard. We got back to the hotel at 3:30. The lack of flexibility and any interpersonal interaction for majority of the tour were disappointing. The sights and history shared were very good. In the past, we have enjoyed having more interaction with our guides to learn more about the city than just the specific sites. We got the facts at each site and little else. Good itinerary... would have liked more than a scripted description and more interpersonal interaction.

Wonderful day tour of Barcelona. Adrian, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable, professional and very attentive to us and our questions. I will personally request him for our next Barcelona visit!! The tour concluded with a tour of La Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. I suggest to include tickets to both…

I can’t say enough good things about our Viator tour and our guide, David, in Barcelona! David was so informative throughout the whole day! And, while he pointed out various points of interest along the way, he also had answers for all our questions. We didn’t just get a “pre-set/rote” routine of Barcelona facts. He was engaging and funny, not joke funny, just little quips now and again :) David was professional and a gentleman at all times. He arrived right on time and kept us on a schedule to see all that we had planned on, all while being very accommodating to the two older family members we had with us. He let them set the walking pace and chose routes that would be less hilly and difficult since one of them had a cane and the other had a rolling walker. He also provided options when possible for the two more active in our group to take an alternate route to see more and meet back up with the ones who needed a shorter, less challenging path. He was truly caring and helpful all day., even allowing for a quick stop to satisfy my mother’s sweet tooth! We all learned a great deal about Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, and all of Barcelona. We enjoyed the delicious restaurant he took us to for lunch. The family owned, local place offered a variety for even our picky eaters to find things they liked. We couldn’t have requested a better guide on this trip! The only two hiccups we had did not overly impact our trip. Based on the trip advertised, we expected a van for transport which may have provided for better viewing and picture taking while touring around the city, but the mid-size car we had was clean and did get us around just fine, even squeezing into a very small, but much closer parking space :). There was initially a problem with the tickets we were given to enter Sagrada Familia not being accepted, but a quick call to David and thank goodness for technology, we had new ones within a few minutes and proceeded to see the magnificent Bacilica! David made our visit to Barcelona memorable, including the photos he took of all of us throughout the day. It was like having a guide, a chauffeur, and personal photographer all in one!! We would recommend Viator and specifically, David, to anyone visiting Barcelona.
