• Birds galore!!

  Was very pleased with this birding tour! I had some extra time in Uvita, and even though I went on some outings into the national park, I knew there were quite a few species of birds to be seen in the local urban area. In fact, there are SO many! The guide, Greivin, picked me up early in the morning–the best time for birding!–and we grabbed coffee and snacks before setting out for a couple hours to walk around quietly to listen and look for birds. There were very few boring moments: between the parrots, parakeets, macaws, and woodpeckers, we saw more than 50 species in about 3 hours. Grevin is really helpful for people of any birding experience level, keeping a list of all the species we saw, and could easily explain about the different species in both English + Spanish. Lastly, if you don't have a nice camera, you can still take good photos with the help of a telescope/binoculars! Greivin was super helpful in letting me borrow these tools, as well as assisting with my own iPhone photography so that I could remember the outing.

  We had the most amazing experience with Greivin! He came to the house we were staying at in Ojochal and helped us identify over 40 species of birds and animals that lived around the property. It was incredible to have such a knowledgeable guide give us such detailed and rich information that we could use to identify birds on our own for the rest of the trip!

  Greivin is extremely knowledgeable about birds and all of nature in general! We had an exciting experience with so many birds right within Uvita! We were blown away by the many sightings that included a Painted Bunting, Toucans, many Tanagers and other wildlife. We were so excited… that we booked him again a week later to come to our property…. Where again, he showed us so many unseen birds throughout the morning.   Greivin is a very knowledgeable, friendly guide, who gave us a the best birdwatching experience we'vehad in Costa Rica. He constantly pointed out wildlife we hadn't even noticed and gave us interesting information about what we'd seen. I'd definitely recommend him.

  This was a highlight of our trip, cannot recommend highly enough! Guides Greivin and Michael were incredibly knowledgeable and tailored the tour to our group’s interests. We counted 35 distinct bird taxa on our tour as well as multiple sloths, lizards, and monkeys. We spent a beautiful and educational morning on shaded jungle paths with ocean views. You wont “egret” it :D

  I was lucky enough to go out with Pure Birding while in Uvita, and had the best bird sightings during any of my trips to Costa Rica. We found several owl species, and a huge group of Scarlet Macaws, as well as myriad other species that can be seen in the area! The guides, Greivin and Andrea were so nice and knowledgeable, and knew exactly where to go to find our target species, which made the tour so much fun.   We met Greivin for a Mangrove river boat tour with crocs, snakes, sloths, anteaters, monkeys, iguana, JC lizards, and tropical birds. He was so patient and helpful in pointing out critters and helping us get pictures. We then booked Greivin for whale watching and it did not disappoint! Though it’s early in the season, he located 2 mother humpbacks, each with calf’s. They showed us Sea turtles, Cocos Booby, Brown Noddy. Finally, we were staying at Casa Komorebi on a mountain above Uvita and since we’d been seeing and hearing so many types of birds, we booked Greivin to come up to the house. In 3 hours, he stunned us with over 30 different tropical birds right here in the property!   We had a group of six that thoroughly enjoyed the tour with Greivin. We saw so many birds and other animals that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise and got so much interesting information. Highly recommend this tour!

  We took a three hour tour with Greiven, but he graciously allowed it to slip into four hours because we were having such a good time. It is remarkable to me how quickly ,after hearing a tweet from the jungle, he can zero us in on a particular bird and identify it. Or lizard, monkey, or sloth. He was passionate, knowledgeable, and friendly. You couldn’t ask for anymore. And I see the rest of the reviews confirm it.

  Greivin is a fantastic guide. I mostly enjoy birding with him; he points out so many birds that I hadn’t seen and quickly identifies them for me, saving me a lot of time flipping through the bird guide, time that I can use to spot and photograph other birds. Greivin also takes excellent photos. I like it when he takes photos, using my phone, through his scope - a skill he has mastered. The results are incredible. I have hired Greivin multiple times because I am so very pleased with his work. He is also very pleasant company, always cheerful and patient.
