Birgu is the city famous for being an ancient maritime city. Since it has a rich history in military and maritime activities, it is not surprising that the place is crowded with Ghosts.

Just imagine, prisoners were beheaded by the Knights of St John and their heads used as cannonballs against the Turks. In fact the city still has Ghosts roaming around, in search of their missing head.

Public executions of those who confessed a crime was the norm. It is also said that the Inquisitor’s palace once even had a well of swords used as a portal towards eternal damnation. The second world war between 1940 and 1943 also caused inescapable deaths and destruction throughout the city.

Such events along with other dark periods which Birgu witnessed throughout the course of history have left their mark, and many still claim that ghosts haunt this city till today. Join us for a thrilling adventure, and learn more about Birgu’s dark past...

It was a beautiful experience - we decided to go in the last minute - so quickly bought tickets - arrived at Birgu and there they were - with the projection on the wall - easy to find. The guide was so knowledgeable - so well prepared and thanks also go to the guy with the projection equipment.

This was a fascinating tour of the beautiful city of Birgu (also known as Vittoriosa). I was amazed to learn about the city's significant role under the Knights of Malta during the Ottoman period, particularly during the Great Siege of Malta in 1565, when several major battles were fought. This rich history has given rise to numerous ghost stories, especially near the port and the Inquisitor's Palace. Additionally, the old townhouses in the area, each with their own ghostly tales, added an extra layer of intrigue to the experience. If you enjoy history with a twist of crime and mystery, this tour is a must!"

We had some foreign colleagues visiting our office and decided to take them on a Ghost Tour in Birgu as a cultural experience for both locals and visitors. The tour was interesting and informative, taking us to some hidden gems in the beautiful city of Birgu. It felt like stepping back in time and seeing the old city come to life. One of the best tour I ever was ! The guide could not being better Very knowledgeable and nice professional man , he answered all our inquiries immediately describing it in fun way adding local stories on top of it Moreover because of me and my friend he switched to English languages as rest of people were locals therefore it was much appreciated from us Very well recommended We will be back 💯!

We organised a private ghost tour for our community (Whereto360) and were very satisfied. The guide was very knowledgeable and included a lot of history and interesting stories about Birgu. Communication before the activity was also good and it was easy to book and pay online, we even received a reminder on the day. Overall very professional and highly recommended

Very informative tour on the rich history of Birgu with a dark twist given that it is a ghost tour. Seeing Birgu by night was fantastic to say the least and when a good guide like Matthew gives a meaning, through his historical knowledge, of all the fortifications and old buildings we have seen makes the atmosphere even more magical. Would highly recommend the tour, not to be missed if you are in Malta.
