• James Beam shines while Buffalo Trace fails miserably

  James Beam was fantastic! Bulleit was a little dry but Buffalo Trace was the worst. Disneyland of the bourbon trail? I think not, unless you count the crowds running for the gift shop. The tour guide is the worst I've ever had. Droning on about the history of these amazing structures from the sidewalk is not a good tour. Show more! Less tell.

  Great options for last min…when distillery tours sell out. Vladimir our guide was a bubbly blast. Got Trace, FourRoses, Jim Beam. Got the ‘Warehouse’ tour at Buffalo and FourRoses that I would have not chosen…but the one at Jim Beam was a full distillery tour and was great. Decent option with no hassle of driving.

  If not for our wonderful driver Shannon I would have given this tour 1 star. The customer service contact I interacted with when reserving the tour was rude. The pick up location information they sent me was conflicting and when I sent a follow up question about pick up and if we should bring food with us I did not get any answer. I understood there was no meal provided as part of the tour but I wanted to know if we would have an opportunity to get anything to eat along the way. When Shannon our driver contacted me the night before the tour to confirm our pick up time I was able to ask her about bringing food. I expressed my surprise that an 8+ hour trip, where people are drinking alcohol didn’t have some accommodation for food. The next day when she arrived to pick us up she brought a bag of snacks! This was so thoughtful and generous of her because she provided those snacks on her own. As for the tour, what you are getting with this is a ride between distilleries and a reservation for your tour at each distillery. There is no tour guide for the day, no stories or information shared, just a ride between locations. We visited Buffalo Trace which was an outstanding tour, unfortunately, the timing did not allow us to go to the gift shop after the tour (we did get to go through before). If we could have gone after the tour we would have purchased some bourbon that we learned from the tasting was unique. Next we visited Bulliet, it was a nice venue but the tour was only so-so. Interesting to see such an automated plant after coming from BT which is very old and still quite manual. Our last stop was James B Beam (or Jim Beam as most of us know it). It was as also a really good tour and a nice location, it did have an on site restaurant but by the time the tour was over we had been out over 8 hours and everyone wanted to get back to their respective hotels. Summary: Not good customer service from tour operator Itinerary (they planned) had us out almost 9 hours, drinking bourbon with no opportunity for food and no mention of bringing you own food in the description Service provided was transportation & pre-scheduled tours at each distillery. Great driver, Shannon was fantastic, very helpful and accommodating.
