Broken Bay Pearl Farm, the only pearl farm in NSW, is the best kept secret on the Central Coast!

Just one hour north of Sydney, this hidden gem is situated on the lower Hawkesbury River amongst spectacular scenery, abundant marine wildlife and generations old oyster farms.

Meet our friendly team who will guide you through how we grow and farm our pearls and oysters, and the process of how we grade these rare gems ready for pieces of beautiful jewellery.

Take the 7.50am train from Central Station in Sydney, direction Newcastle for the Hawkesbury River Train Station. This train arrives at 8.50am. We will be ready to transfer you to your tour as soon as your train arrives. The transfer is only for guests booking the Oyster and Lovers Tour or the Shell to Showroom Tours. Transfer will return back to the train station at 1pm Please note that the price does not include the train fare.

This is a hidden gem. We had a comprehensive and fascinating presentation at The Shellar Door regarding pearl and oyster production/grading, followed by an enjoyable and informative journey by boat to Broken Bay to look at the oyster leases and to round it off an oyster tasting session, fresly shucked including tasting an Akoya. We had time to brouse in the Pearl showroom and plan to return. Thankyou Guy and your team for enthusiastically sharing your knowledge and your pride in your work. Very proffessional. We enjoyed a great morning with you all. Tip: If you arrive early, coffee is available to buy. Win win!

Had a magnificent day starting with a very interesting and informative Master class at The Shellar Door, Mooney Mooney followed by a very special lunch at a mystery destination. The whole day was truly superb and memorable in every way and the staff could not have been more attentive. Very highly recommended.

I recently took a tour at Oyster and Pearl farm and it was an amazing experience!! The tour was decided on a three parts - a Pearl presentation, an oyster testing and a relaxing river cruise. I particularly loved the presentation by three ladies, who were extremely knowledgeable and engaging. As a tour guide myself I was thrilled by the quality of the experience. My tourists loved it as well!!

This was an amazing experience, we had perfect weather on the day which a bonus also. The class was so informative and you get to look and hold so many pearls. Even some that are worth over $40,000. My kids loved the pearl with a smiley face somehow naturally formed into it. The trip out on to the water was also fantastic which was also another hands on experience. If you’re an oyster lover (unlike me) you would be overjoyed with the shucking and tasting experience. There were four different species on offer which couldn’t be any fresher.

Learnt lots about how pearls are produced The boat “tour” to the oyster farm was very underwhelming. You slowly head out to look at a couple of piles sticking out of the water and “there’s the oyster farm. Aaron was very good telling us about how they are farmed on the way out to the “farm” The young lady doing the pearl part needed to slow down her talk as she was hard to understand at times All in all it was an interesting tour

Great tour! Not only is the setting a beautiful location, the day was perfect. Interesting to see the oyster beds up close and the tasting at the end was delicious!

The tour was excellent - informative and interesting. Highly recommend. Having visited Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm in the Kimberly previously, this was complimentary to that - not a second rate version at all. The oyster tasting at the end was a highlight, sampling three different varieties with expert comments by our guide.

Just had the best day …informative and very well run, the grazing board AMAZING so much food. Loved the boat tour ….staff all very friendly and helpful….HIGHLY RECOMMEND for a great 1/2 day outing - WELL DONE

Loved the beautiful cruise on the Hawkesbury. Andrew, our guide, friendly and informative. Learned so much that we didn't know about oysters and their farming. Also booked a grazing platter that we enjoyed afterwards. Amazingly plentiful and delicious!
