A green jewel set between the historic districts of Castello and Villanova. A former quarry for the extraction of limestone blocks, the walk in this park allows you to get to know plant species of considerable interest such as a centuries-old olive tree, a splendid carob tree, oaks, essences of the Sardinian flora and in this place you are struck by the abundance of caper bushes that grow along the limestone ridge that borders the park. Each tree and plant tells stories that are part of an ethnological and naturalistic heritage of great experiential impact. In this place you can admire the works of the great Sardinian artist Pinuccio Sciola: the famous sound stones. Sculptures in basalt and limestone that tell of the artist's deep connection with the natural soul of an ancient island. The “Gardens under the walls” are a wonderful place to learn about the history of the city surrounded by greenery.

5.00Lele is an exceptional guide who I dubbed the ‘mayor of Cagliari’ as he seemed to know pretty much every local we passed. We were here in early November and although a few shops (no gelato😢) were closed, the lack of crowds and mild temperatures made for a great time to visit. Lele is a wealth of knowledge about the history and carries lots of photos and information to show how the city has evolved over time. You get to see areas that the tourists would not normally visit. Great information without overwhelming. The food is all locally produced and quite tasty. This is not a ‘stuff your face’ food tour as some can be, rather a great way to taste some local specialties. Lele is truly passionate of his local heritage and is well rounded with his musical band, a radio show and appears on local TV specializing in keeping the old local language Sardo alive. Oh, he’s also an anthropologist. Don’t think too hard about booking this!

5.00Such a cool, personal, and unique cultural and food tour! Lele era estremamente professionale e mi ha parlato in un mix d'italiano e inglese per farmi esercitare il mio italiano. He was kind and always provided translations if I did not understand. Mi affascina tantissimo la cultura del cibo in Italia, e ancora di più in Sardegna. Ora posso capire perchè gli italiano sono così appassionati per il cibo. It is so interesting to me the hyper-local food traditions, and the passion and enthusiasm everyone brings to making their typical products and sharing it with others. Dico sempre che la cultura è il cibo e il cibo è la cultura - so if you want to really get to know a country or region, you have to explore the food. Per questo organizzo sempre quasi tutti i miei viaggi alla base del cibo! Thank you for making my stay in Cagliari extra special.

5.00A fantastic tour of Sardinia with Lele, who was very knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. He took us to parts of the city we wouldn't have otherwise seen, and provided us with authentic meats and cheeses. Would definitely recommend!

5.00This was great excursion getting to know the people and history while tasting local food and wine from Cagliari. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and shared his passion for all things Sardinia! He gave us so many local hidden gems and sites to see. It gave us a great start to our vacation!

5.00This was such an incredible excursion! We didn’t really like many of the excursions our cruise ship had to offer, so I took a chance on this one and we were not disappointed! Emmanuel (Lele) was so knowledgeable and shared so much information about Sardinian history, culture, and food. The meat and cheese and wine was all delicious and the gelato spot we visited was to die for! We even went back to the first stop for meats and cheese and the last stop for gelato a second time before going back to the ship. Highly recommend this experience - our only wish is that it lasted even longer!

5.00Lele is passionate about his Sardinian heritage! He is so knowledgable, and delights in sharing the history of Sardinia, its culture, the native language, its amazing food and wine. He is friendly and well connected in this Cagliari community he calls home, which was witnessed all along our tour through the quaint streets of town as he exchanged greetings with shop owners and passers-by alike. Lele gives you a window into real life in Cagliari from a local’s point of view, with glimpses of daily life you won’t find and can’t get as a visitor on your own. The food tasting was oh, so good. The cheeses, the meats, the breads, the olive oils, salts and sapa. Exactly what you want in Italy - and nothing like you get at home in the US. The wine, made especially for the shop we visited - so special. And then, of course, the gelato! Nothing more need be said. The perfect ending to our private tour (that generously extended an additional 45 minutes because Lele didn’t rush us through any of the experiences he had curated for us through the relationships he has within his community). Lele is an excellent tour guide, and his tour is a must do for visitors wanting an authentic Sardinian experience of food, wine and culture.

5.00A FANTASTIC tour with Emanuele (Lele). His passion, pride, knowledge and love for all things Sardinia were on full display. Truly a delightful experience. We wish we could bring him with us all around the island. The cheeses, meats, wine and gelato were amazing. We highly recommend this tour with Emanuele.

5.00Perfect tour to see both the tourist and local sights. We loved every part of the tour. 2.5 hours is the perfect amount of time and the tastings were perfectly thought out and the overall experience was truly amazing.
