The tour operator canceled the activity without notification. Luckily, I contacted them the day before at which time they told me it was canceled and they were closed. I asked Viator to assist to find out why and they responded that the tour operator claimed it was weather related. The weather that day was fine and we didn't agree with that explanation. Very unprofessional handling of the reservation. At least Viator refunded the fees we paid.

It was cancelled without any communication. We have had wonderful experiences via Viator until this one. Fortunately, after a few emails, our money was refunded. We did not ever get a reason this was canceled.

See Previous Review from "Marisa P" below. We are all packed and ready to fly in the morning when we also recieve an email from Trip Advisor to say the operator has cancelled due to "Weather" exactly as what happened to Marisa. Having checked the weather it is a beautiful bright and sunny day expected on Friday, no rain or clouds, temperatures in the mid 20's celcius (the day of our booking). So as per Marisa's booking the cancellation of "weather" does not ring true. We haven't tried to contact them as if they don't want our business its obvious they will only make more excuses as they did to Marisa. However we are very dissapointed as we where so looking forward to this trip, it sounds amazing and is exactly the type of thing we enjoy. Also with them cancelling at such short notice it leaves us in "limbo" as we are on a cruise and there isn't much else left for us to book either independantly or via the cruise company. We booked and paid this trip back in August! Ohh well I'll open the suit cases and unpack the hiking boots and sticks....more room for the wife to pack another dress or two...lol. So sorry Kostas Trips, but I cannot recommend you to any other travellers, you could just leave them as dissapointed as us (and Marisa).

Family of 3 that loved our time going through the beautiful monasteries, mountains, and caves through Katholiko Bay. We enjoyed our time learning about the history and the views were beautiful. It can be a bit tricky so wear good hiking shoes and there is an opportunity to swim at the end. Kostas was great and we would recommend 100%

We would have loved this hike if it hadn’t been cancelled in a very unprofessional way. We booked months in advance. 2 days before, it was cancelled due to weather (forecast was sunny, so it didn’t make sense). We got no other communication so I found their number on Google to reach out. At first, they told me they cancelled because their credit card processing system was down. We offered cash and they said they would try and rebook us, but we had already lost the spot because they cancelled. Then they said the van was broken down, so the story changed again. Then they threatened to ban my TripAdvisor account if I wrote a bad review.

The hike through the mountain to the Katholiko Monastery ruins was absolutely beautiful and the monastery itself was incredible to see. We saw lots of goats during the hike and even a herd running near the active Gouverneto Monastery. Kostas was personable and very informative about the history surrounding the area and each of the sites we saw. He led us along at our own pace so we never felt that we were rushed along or pushed past our limits. Highly recommend!

It was a super nice hike with amazing views! We didn’t realize that it was a private tour when we booked but that was a nice surprise. The bay was super clear and a great sight to see. Kostas was great company and shared a lot of interesting information with us about the history of the location. He showed us spots we would not have found by ourselves. Kostas also shared a lot with us about Greece itself and was fun to chat with! Definitely recommend!

The gorge itself is absolutely stunning—towering cliffs, wild herbs scenting the air, and the sound of birds and running water guide you down to the coast. At the bottom, you're rewarded with a peaceful little inlet and the ruins of an old harbor where monks once lived in solitude. We went early in the morning and had the entire trail to ourselves. It’s quiet, spiritual, and full of Cretan character. If you love nature, hiking, or historical sites, Katholiko Gorge is not to be missed. Just be sure to check opening times for Gouverneto Monastery before you go!

Kostas was super knowledgeable and good company for the hike. As stated, you really can’t beat the views- maybe the most beautiful place we visited in Chania. Definitely not for beginners (it’s every bit of 1.5hrs downhill then back up) but getting to the lagoon at the bottom is well worth the trip. Learning about the monasteries and caves, and passing by the goats along the way was pretty interesting as well!

We both had a wonderful time, the hike itself isn't for the faintharted, but Kostas had some very interesting facts to share with us, we explored caves coves and gorges on the way down and back up.
