Wine tours are nothing without the perfect surroundings in which to indulge. Nestled inland from Newcastle, the Hunter Valley is a mere 2 hour drive from Sydney and is home to wineries, luscious farmland, art galleries, golf courses and native wildlife.
On this small-group tour with no more than 16 participants you’ll taste Australian made wines at three boutique wineries, paired with a food menu to compliment every drop. Before leaving Sydney, you’ll visit the Sydney Fish Markets to purchase fresh seafood to be used in the menu and stop in the Hawkesbury region for breakfast.
Your guide is not just any old guide – he is your cook as well, and is a qualified chef! We do this to make sure that the food you get to eat matches your tour and the wines you are tasting to perfection.
Our mission is to make your day not just an outing, but an expedition, exploring vineyards, and experiencing first class cooking in idyllic surrounds.

After early morning pickup from your Sydney hotel, your guide will welcome you with a selection of healthy snacks to keep you satisfied until breakfast. The first stop of the day is the Sydney Fish Markets. Kick-start the day by grabbing a coffee as you explore and learn about the Sydney Fish Markets. Watch the auction floor in action or join your guide as they select locally caught seafood for the day’s menu. Break up the journey with a freshly cooked hot breakfast beside the picturesque Hawkesbury River. Continue along the picturesque convict built Great North Road as your guide shares information about the Hunter Valley’s fascinating history and unique wine varieties. On reaching the Hunter Valley stop in the historic hamlet of Wollombi for the first tasting of the day. Roll your own sushi ‘the way you like it’. Select the wine you think best matches it as you sample and learn about Wollombi wines from the winemakers themselves. Continue past rolling hills to the next handpicked winery with panoramic views of the Great Dividing Range. Discover local made wines as you graze on delicious dishes, prepared by your guide/chef, designed to match the tasting. The Hunter Valley is also known for its quality regional produce like olive oils, chutneys, olives and chili sauces. If time permits, a stop at a favourite local produce store means you can try as many delicacies as you like. Relish in the pleasure of tasting Barramundi and Kangaroo with Hunter Semillon and Shiraz. Then devour a decadent dessert accompanied with sweet dessert wine to wrap up your gourmet experience before returning to Sydney.

5.00Jimmy made this trip, his knowledge & information inspires everyone, his food is excellent. The choice of venues to taste the wine and match his food was spot on, the right balance achieved. Started early morning at the old Fish Market for breakfast, Jimmy picked up fresh ingredients and off to the Hunter Valley. If you love, like or there for the experience you will enjoy this food and wine tour, it’s an absorbing experience, it just has to be done. Is it value for money? Absolutely, every cent, dime or penny. I would do it again, Yes because of Jimmy and the great group we had.

5.00Oh my there is too much good stuff to tell! The food was absolutely exquisite! Jimmy was so much fun and knowledgeable. This is our 2nd time doing this exact tour and we are from the USA! Better yet we would do it over and over again. This is literally the best excursion we had ever taken anywhere in the world.

Jimmy is an exceptional chef who is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about what he does, and he created some sublime food and wine pairings. As a bonus, we also got to see some kangaroos. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys wine and good food.

5.00This tour is for anyone who enjoys site seeing, local interaction, food, &/or local wine. I booked this tour as part of an extended tour of New Zealand & Australia. It turned out to be the BEST & most memorable tour of our trip. Chef Jimmy is a one man business here. He drives, educates, cooks & entertains you on this whole day excursion. You begin in the fish market not only to pickup supplies up for your tasting day; but, to begin your sampling at the market, learn to dip chocolate, eat a FLAVOR FILLED breakfast & take in the fantastic sites of an active fish market. Then your journey begins up to the Hunter Valley of Australia. Being a small group tour gives you the opportunity to meet & interact with fellow travelers for a more relaxed event. We visited 3 separate wineries, and a Chocolate & Candy Shop and Jimmy’s creations kept coming. The variety, flavor and pairings of his creations with the wine were totally AMAZING! Being privately served by winery owners and staff allowed you the opportunity to obtain history of the area, their craft and the wines they make. I will have a very hard time participating in one of these type of activities without comparing it to the experience I had on Jimmy’s Chef-led Gourmet Hunter Valley wine & food tour. It is really one of a kind experience. The tastes, amount & variety was outstanding!!! So well worth the cost. I wish he was closer to my home!

5.00What an incredible experience! Our Hunter Valley wine tour with Chef Jimmy was unforgettable. We started the day at the Sydney Fish Market, which was such a fun and unique way to kick things off. From there, we visited three beautiful wineries and even enjoyed a chocolate tasting along the way. Every meal Chef Jimmy prepared was perfectly paired with the wines and absolutely delicious from start to finish. If you love food and wine, this tour is an absolute must. Chef Jimmy not only brings amazing culinary talent but also makes the whole day feel special and memorable. Truly one of the best experiences we have had!
