Join us as you hop on the train towards Greymouth in the morning offering views only possible through the Tranzalpine, this allows a panoramic landscape of the Majestic Southern Alps up close.
Upon collection, our guide will take you the rest of the way in this small group tour to Franz Josef.

We start our journey towards the wild west coast by dropping you off at Tower Junction to catch your train towards Greymouth via the Tranzalpine. This journey offers open viewing carriages for you to enjoy the scenery through the panoramic windows.

Here your guide will be waiting to meet you to continue your journey to Franz Josef. Greymouth is located in the heart of New Zealand's South Island, Greymouth is the largest town in the West Coast region, with a population of around 14,000 people. Nestled amidst chiseled cliff tops, wild beaches, and the picturesque Grey Valley, this charming destination is not only a beautiful spot itself, but also a key hub for connecting via the renowned TranzAlpine train service. **Please note the train is a third-party company in conjoined with our tour, there may be train delays of up to 30 minutes meaning you might not be able to have time for the views in Cobden. Please be aware of this and be patient if this occurs.**

5.00Our tour guide(s) Grant and Jannis were amazing hosts. The van is very comfortable, they are very knowledgeable and engaging. They kept our spirits high. The provided lunch was okay; for most people, chicken is better than ham, so perhaps keep chicken as the default option next time. Overall, it was really spectacular. For people who don't have cars for their time here, I recommend this way to travel between the places in NZ!

5.00The ride across Tranz Alpine was spectacular. Arriving at the Franz Josef Glacier was the perfect finale. Rosie was a super friendly guide. Overall a fantastic way to see some of New Zealand’s best landscapes in one day.

5.00The trip from Christchurch to Franz Josef was incredible. The TranzAlpine train and scenic drive showcased absolutely breathtaking landscapes and views the entire way. Our guide Rosie was super knowledgeable! She was friendly and full of great local stories. It is quite a long day but her stories made it fly by and the views make it absolutely worth it. Everything was very well organised, we had lots of great photo stops. Highly recommend this, especially with Rosie as your tour guide. :)

5.00Rosie our guide was super knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the modern Mercedes van, very high quality. The views on the train were next level epic!!! Loved seeing the magical Southern Alps. Also the beauty of Hokita Gorge! Highly recommend!
