  Went as 2 couples myself daughter and 4yr old granddaughter and our husbands. My daughter has been a couple of times before and even she said it was a massive disappointment. Christmas at the Castle more like Scrooge at the Castle. Being Merlin owned Iexpected to see staff dressed up as Elves and other Christmas characters but NOTHING NOT even a Christmas hat to be seen. NO Christmas atmosphere at all apart from the decorated trees in the castle. Didn't see any staff around to ask questions or be easy to find if needed assistance or there was an emergency. As for the 1 hour Pantomime well if you want to sit in a covered area open sides with cold damp wind blowing through to listen to out of tune singing and poor acting this is the place to visit. WHY did everything else have to be such an expensive add on £21 for a 4yr old to go skating ridiculous. Sorry but my opinion of the experience of our day out very underwhelming and certainly wouldn't go again.

• Tower sleepover - Best VIP experience!

  We booked the Tower suite sleepover with the 'stories with Santa' experience. We did Lapland UK last year and this cost a similar amount of money. We wanted something different than the usual 'decorate a biscuit', 'write a letter', 'visit the toy shop' experience that you get at most christmas attractions. Our boys are 10 & 8 so we wanted different activities. Wow!! We knew it was going to be exclusive but this genuinely is the most VIP experience we have ever had. The personal concierge, to flashing the gold card that gets you through areas and 20% of Warwick shops (not the Christmas independants), access to the ramparts after hours, personal history tour of the house once it closes, private breakfast in one of the state rooms. It was incredible! You feel so special and looked after. We got to meet Father Christmas and Mrs Claus at a private meeting and it was gorgeous. Beautiful. Not too full on for our eldest but just magical. Bravo Christmas team. We spent nearly 30 hours at the castle. All activities booked in for us and they were brilliant. Dungeons, ice skating, light trail, history tour and afternoon tea. Special mentions to the concierge team. Ellie and Zac. They were 5 star and nothing was too much trouble. Friendly, attentive and always available. George, our private tour historian was incredible! She dealt with the children's questions brilliantly, it was fun, engaging and most off all, they learnt something and retained the information. Superb! All three members of staff completely made our stay and left a positive impression on our boys! The Tower sleepover is absolutely worth the money. If you can go at Christmas, all the better. House decorated beautifully and all the winter activities included. A slight negative. Our afternoon was booked at 1pm. This should be seamless as it's a planned thing that they are rolling out. We waited an hour for our food. Other tables were served and we continued to wait. There was obviously an issue as the staff kept looking over at us. Eventually half an hour in, they offered complementary drinks due to the wait. No explanation or information. Our annoyance could have been avoided if communication was given. Explain why there was a wait, clear our table of dirty cups that had built up, don't just leave us sitting there with one drink for 40+ minutes. I reviewed the castle a few years ago when we attended at Christmas. The same notes apply, not enough seating in the Christmas village, this could definitely be improved and nowhere to shelter if there was bad weather. And as usual, at these things, the street food stall prices are extortionate! But if you're going for the main castle and want a totally exclusive, VIP experience, Tower Suite is a once in a lifetime experience!

  

  

  

  

  

  

• A Magical Christmas Experience (even with the Castle Dungeon)

  We had a short break, staying just the one night. Of the activities available, we did the daytime pantomime, winter birds, great hall, time tower, ice skating, light trail, evening pantomime, hotel stay, elf wake up, breakfast, stories with Santa, and the dungeon. Daytime Pantomime: a little bit slow to get going but built up to a superbly funny experience. Winter Birds: this was a much more intimate experience that the Falconer's Quest. Less spectacular, but more educational, revealing the relationship between falconer and birds. Ice skating: superb setting for such a fun family activity. Ice skating staff were quick to help those in trouble and kind and supportive in doing so. Light trail: one of the best I've experienced. Very well thought out, full of Christmas magic. The food and drink vendors at the end were reasonably priced, which was surprising, given a captive audience. Evening pantomime: we were worried that this hotel exclusive would be the same as the daytime pantomime, especially when we saw the same performers. However, it was a different show, and really good fun. The performers were undeterred that there were only 4 of us in the audience for the 19:30 show, giving it their all. Hotel: Lots of brilliant touches that show that the whole family has been considered, such as anti-finger-trap devices on the doors , fun bunk beds with a privacy curtain from the adult beds, a bath, and an integrated potty seat on the toilet. Elf Wake Up: despite the slight hiccup of being a bit late, this was a magical way to wake up, and a real thrill for the children. Shout out to Bon Bon. Breakfast: A very high-quality breakfast. A little bit of a queue, but good use of the space of the tavern kept wait times agreeable. Shout-out to Tim for excellent dining room management. Stories with Santa: A truly wonderful experience, with Bon Bon, Cracker, Mrs Claus and Santa making it magical. Dungeon: Despite having much less space than other dungeons, being set in a castle rather than dedicated studio, this was very well-done. All performers put in a convincingly terrifying performance. One thing we remarked upon was how friendly and helpful all the staff were.

  A very enjoyable day. The castle was interesting and decorated festively, though with none of the details that somewhere like Bleinhem Palace offer. We missed the 'Weekend Houseparty' display during our first tour of the house and there weren't many there when we found it later so perhaps we weren't the only ones to miss it. Lucky with the weather, we climbed the ramparts- would it be possible to make a one way system to prevent blockages on the winding stairs? The shops contained some interesting items. The afternoon tea was superb- 5 stars. Fresh with warm scones and pigs in blankets. Plenty of fresh, good quality tea (not teabags) and mulled wine as well. Everywhere we went the staff were friendly and helpful. There were a couple of lovely horses with costumed humans alongside. A long day for them but they kept smiling. The light trail was great and utilised the natural environment. The paths were well maintained and not as muddy as I had been expecting even after the rain we have had. We watched the ice skaters and everyone was having fun, with safety and maintenance carefully controlled. The carols/piper/band/choir were enjoyable but I felt the whole concert should be shortened to an hour. It's a long time to stand in the cold and there were rather too many carols in my opinion. Why not 5 stars for the whole experience? The food prices of course! Absolutely ridiculous. For example the mulled wine was nearly £8 but later the Rotary club were selling it for £4. 3 marshmallows for £5? • Warwick gave us Christmas magic in an evening

  This year we have visited Blenheim lights , Sandringham illuminations and Warwick Castle. Warwick castle won our vote hands down in every aspect . From the moment we parked the car and made our way to the castle everybody who worked there we met was cheerful and helpful. We didn’t go to buy the food as we are well aware that events love to charge a lot but it did look very nice .We stopped half way round the trail for a mulled wine which was nice but at £7.50 each was pretty steep . However the area to drink it was under cover with plenty of seating and lovely views of the gingerbread house lit across the water and was magical. The castle dressed for Christmas was really pretty and an added bonus to see. The trail itself is about a mile long and the same length as other similar light trails . The actual lighting installations were really original with a very modern twist . We are personally tired of other trails with lit up trees and balls in the ground etc with the same uninteresting music . We loved the way Warwick castle used modern music including the King having a speaking part .The big screen on the back of the castle was really original appealing to all ages, a speaking tree and the tower bridge display with Big Ben made the trail really interesting This light trail appeals to both adults and children and incorporates the castle really well. We didn’t do the ice skating but noted that the set up was far better than the Blenheim one and the viewing platform enabled us pensioners to watch the young ones having fun . Those that complain about the lack of market stalls , trust us it is nothing but expensive tat that these stalls sell at markets and Warwick did well not having them there . All in all we had a lovely evening and didn’t really want to leave . We will definitely return next year .

  Light trail was absolutely amazing, we stayed the night and had stories with Santa the next day. The only negative is I found the food in the tavern pub and the knight restaurant really random menu and the quality of the food wasn’t great given the price of the stay is pretty expensive. Apart from that the hotel and the experiences were magical.

  We had to abandon our visit due to a child being taken ill the night before. We only informed Viator on the morning of the visit and therefore were prepared for a battle to get a refund. Although the claim didn’t obey the exact letter of their terms, we received a complete return of the full amount (6 full fees) without question. Excellent and sensible management.

• Very poor - not much choice for kids with SEN

  I brought my SEN kids to the castle thinking it would be a lovely afternoon out. Sadly weather was against us. Turns out they have nowhere for people to shelter from rain to eat their food. So with torrential rain food is instantly ruined. Bad enough the food prices are absolutely ridiculous! But to then have it soaking wet as they haven't covered anything up to cater for bad weather in winter! There was no basic foods, to cater for children. Like a normal burger or a bit of pizza. The little food shop in the castle doesn't even stock basic sandwiches or crisps for the children. The shop by the castle was closed early, anyone trying to shelter to eat their food without it being ruined were told by staff to move away and stand in the rain. We ended up leaving early and not bothering with the lights as my kids were too hungry, soaking wet and just miserable with how poor the whole experience was. Unfortunately I won't be recommending this attraction to anyone and won't be returning.

• Peacock Suite stay

  We stayed in the Peacock Suite for 2 nights. Our room was absolutely stunning and the concierge team were amazing, always available to help with any requests. We really enjoyed the light show and on our final day, we had a personal tour of the castle with the amazing Andrew. He was so knowledgeable and made the tour fun and interesting. Thank you all for an amazing stay!

  Xmas Mkt and Light Trail : market at the castle disappointing only 10 stalls all food and drink, no christmas merchandise, light trail great, but way too long. Too overcrowded with families. Not enough of the Castle seen, not enough state rooms seen, not enough of history of Castle as too overcrowded so we just gave up, and food and drink overpriced. Would not visit but only for light trail. Gift shop didn't buy anything as overpriced. The Coat of Arms chalet was interesting more chalets please. A little disappointed 😞
