This tour is a Cruise liner highlight and very popular.
Please book early enough so that there is no unnecessary delays the day of the tour. There is a lot of organization going into the tour
Please note German guides are limited and we do not have the capacity to give everyone a German guide, These will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Please note we can not guarantee a German guide on every tour!!
please note all Cruise Liner passengers, your tour pick up time starts an hour after you have docked. The tour will depart latest an hour and a half after the pick up time. Late comers are considered a no show

Walvis Bay Esplanade
Our first stop is at the Walvis Bay esplanade. Here we see the Pink Flamingos. We learn about the greater and lesser Flamingos. We drop our tyre pressure to .8 bar and are ready to take on the beach ride. We pass the pink Salt lakes of the Salt Mine and passed hundreds of waders and palearctic migratory birds in the Lagoon, along the shore to the towering Dunes of Sandwich harbour. Magnificent wide open spaces as the dunes get closer to the sea. We enter where Dunes meets sea on a narrow strip of beach. Awesome dune views and walks await us. We take a stomach tingling roller coaster ride to the Sandwich harbor view point. The bay is at your feet, surrounded by the Nara bush. Sandy sandbanks are awash in the bay and the green sea with blue sky red dunes is absolutely awesome. We take a dune drive to the best views, searching for animals in the desert and look for an unique picnic spot. Lunch with a dune view, quiet, very quiet only us around. We have time for dune and beach walks.
Walvis Bay
Our route takes us through the dunes and a game drive where we might see Ostriches , Oryx, Jackal and Springbuck. On the beach the Seals may be sleeping or playing, and if we are lucky we will see Dolphins and Whales. The route is back along the shores with thousands of birds. Sadly we end up in Walvis Bay. We tank up and air up and take your back to your hotel.

5.00The full day tour of Sandwich Harbour and Pelican Point was outstanding!!!! The tour guide Riaan went out of his way to make everyone in the group relaxed. His infectious enthusiasm for the natural beauty of the Walvis Baai area was very enjoyable. He also added quite a few quirks and surprises during the day, such as digging a hole in the dunes and letting the group taste real desert water. Sandwich Harbour and the dunes of the Namib have to be experienced. Photos just don't do it. Driving across the dunes was fantastic and the view from the many stops were spectacular. Pelican Point with its seals and the lighthouse was a great experience too. This was really a worthwhile day trip!!!!

5.00Our guide Le Clue gave us the full experience of driving in the dunes and it was an amazing day. We were very happy that we booked the tour, feeling very comfortable with an experienced guide and learning a lot about Namibia, Wildlife and Culture.

5.00A wonderful day travelling along the beach and into the Sandwich Harbour and dunes, with great guide. For those arriving by cruise ship, the guide, Uwe, met us harborside. We drove out of Walvis Bay stopping to see flamingos, pelicans and the salt lakes. We continued along the beach and up into the sand dunes, stopping at a number of incredible viewpoints. Along the beach we saw lots of cormorants and seals. In the dunes, Uwe pointed out the tracks of hyenas. He suggested we take off our shoes to enjoy the feeling of sand between our toes. He dropped us off at the top of the dunes and we climbed/slid down barefoot. We stopped for drinks and lunch, a selection of meats, samosas, cheese with cake and sweet deserts, very enjoyable. On our return route, we drove through the bush where we saw Oryx and Springboks. Returning to Walvis Bay, we stopped again the see the pelicans and flamingos and also saw a jackal wandering along the beach, searching for mussels etc. Uwe was very knowledgeable and we had a great day out with him. Highly recommend this trip.

5.00We were greeted by our tour guide, Winton, who was holding up a clear sign just a few paces from where we disembarked from the cruise ship - actually 30 mins early. The vehicle was a very safe comfortable and modern 4 x 4 Toyota. Winton proved to be a safe, experienced and highly skilled driver. He was very friendly and highly informative, about the country generally as well as about the history, geography, flora and fauna of the area. The tour lasted 7 hours and was worth every penny (as well as being considerably less expensive than very similar tours being touted on board by Cunard). We saw lots of birdlife including pelicans, flamingos, large flocks of cormorants, sandpipers, terns and other species. We saw many seals in the sea and on the beach as well as Oryx, Springboks and jackals in the national park. The ride along the beach and over the dunes in the national park was exhilarating and the many different views were spectacular, not least the views over Sandwich Bay harbour. There were frequent stops all day for taking in the scenery and many opportunities for photos. The light lunch and drinks provided, set up at a viewpoint in the dunes was excellent. We were returned to the ship with plenty of time before departure. The tour was conducted with 2 other 4x4 vehicles from the same company, so there was always back-up should any problems arise. In short we highly recommend this tour and the company also known as Desert Tours and Dust Tours.

5.00I had a great time on this informative & fun day out with my local familh. We appreciated Riaan’s warm & genuine personality. It was a great drive seeing the different animals, learning about the area & wildlife, snapping pics & driving the dunes. I would highly recommend this tour & hope to travel back to Namibia with some friends & put them on the same tour with Riaan. Nga mihi & Faafatei Riaan!
