The Colosseum is heavily visited for its famous tiered seating arrangements and the arena floor. Because of that, its underground level remains rarely explored. In this tour, you and your small group will have the occasion to travel down into the monument’s dungeons where gladiators awaited their frightful future and wild animals from the world’s most exotic regions were kept. As you visit these underground chambers, you will see the remains of what were once elevators, trap doors, and cages. Rest assured that our team of experts will be able to handle all of your questions about the ancient Roman Empire, and since this is a semi-private tour, each of our customers will benefit from more time and attention coming from our dedicated guide.

Meet your guide in Via del Colosseo nr 31, in front of Caffe Roma, above the second floor of the Colosseum metro stop(blue line).

Please provide the full names of all travelers when booking. Failure to present a voucher with all travelers' full names at the ticket office prior to entry may result in denied entry to the Colosseum and Roman Forum.

Important: Please note that large bags, backpacks, and/or suitcases are not permitted in the Colosseum. Only very small bags are allowed. Please do not bring these items with you on the day of your tour as there are no cloakrooms at the Colosseum

The Colosseum tour will last approximately 1.5 hour

Please be advised that the Colosseum's capacity regulations and security may delay the tour departure

This could also influence the smooth running of the tour especially on national holidays and events.

If you arrive late for the meeting time, it will not be possible to join the group or reschedule, unless you pay for the activity again. As per "No Show" rules you will not be entitled to a refund.

Pets are not allowed inside the venue

Entrance is strictly limited so you must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your departure time. Anyone who arrives after their time slot cannot be accommodated or refunded

Each traveler must present a valid passport or ID document that matches the name provided at the time of booking for successful entry to the Colosseum and Roman Forum.

The tour time can differ by 30 minutes. Please confirm with your provider your tour time 1 week prior to your tour date.

The Underground tour with Diana is a must do! It was so cool to tour ALL of the colosseum …even the secret underground passages. Diana was very knowledgeable friendly, and efficient. This will be one of our families most memorable adventures of all time!
Great way to avoid the worst crowds and see all of the Colosseum.

The start of the tour was a little confusing since it is on the street level across and high above the Colosseum. However, our tour guide was lovely and very patient even with my special-needs child. We were able to walk straight into the Colosseum without waiting in any line and then had half an hour to explore the underground areas. There was a short informative movie showing how the gladiators used to enter the arena and we learned a lot about which parts of the Colosseum were built during what era. It's a very pricey tour but for one of the most important spots in Rome, I would definitely spend the money again if given the choice.

If I could give no stars I would. We booked and paid for a small group with a max of 8. There was 13 of us. The headsets were horrible, could barely hear and had static. We ended up turning them off. The tour ran late. the guide was barely understandable - not his fault. We would’ve left the group immediately but felt we already paid so might as well stick it out. We didn’t learn anything on the tour and felt like we could’ve just read a book on it.

Danniella was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the Coloseum and made it all come to life. We all enjoyed the underground part of the tour & it was well worth doing. The Tour length, 100 mins, was long enough for the teenagers in our group & we then explored the Forum & Palentine the next day.

We were a bit late to the tour after our time was changed, but they were very accommodating and got us caught up to the group quickly. Our guide was excellent and provided great information. Great experience and would recommend.
