Begzsuren will pick you up from your hotel and take you home for an authentic Mongolian cultural and culinary experience! Learn to cook and dine on buuz, traditional Mongolian steamed dumplings and homemade noodle soup in addition to other dishes.
Begzsuren and his wife, Mungunsoyombo learned how to cook from an early age, from their families. Mungunsoyombo learned how to make traditional food healthier from her experience in nutritional studies. They live with their three children in a traditional Ger house in the suburbs of Ulaanbaatar. A traditional Ger home is a simple, portable, round tent covered with felt and used as a dwelling place in Central Asia. Begzsuren, Mungunsoyombo and his children will welcome you with hot herbal tea made from nettles Begzsuren picked from a herb garden. Join Begzsuren at his home for this cooking and meal experience and get introduced to Mongolian life, culture and cuisine.

Meet your host Bee at your hotel in Ulaanbaatar and travel together by car, taxi, or public transport to his family’s traditional ger, located about 5 km from the city center. A ger is a round, felt covered tent traditionally used by nomadic families across Mongolia. Upon arrival, Bee and his wife Soy will welcome you with warm nettle tea foraged from a nearby mountain and introduce you to Mongolian daily life, customs, and food traditions. Join them for a private, hands on, cooking class where you will prepare classic Mongolian dishes using fresh, local ingredients and family recipes passed down through generations. You may learn to make handmade noodle soup and traditional steamed dumplings while gaining insight into Mongolian cuisine and nomadic culture. After cooking, sit down to enjoy the meal you helped prepare, which may include noodle soup, steamed dumplings, and sheep meat, shared in a warm family setting inside the ger. End the experience by learning shagai, a traditional Mongolian knuckle bone game and a family favorite. This immersive experience offers a unique opportunity to cook, eat, and connect with a local family just outside Ulaanbaatar.

5.00I don’t believe I can adequately articulate what a truly wonderful experience it was to be welcomed into Bee and Soy’s home. This is far more than a cooking class; rather it’s an immersive cultural experience from beginning to end. The warmth and generosity of how this remarkable couple shares their home and culture is unlike any cooking experience. I feel that I truly have friends in Mongolia now, and I hope to have the opportunity to one day visit again. Top tier!!!

5.00The BEST experienced in all of Mongolia!!!! This is no mere cooking class. It is an indoctrination to traditional Mongolian living. Sadly, this way of life is dying. If you want to understand millennia aged traditions including OUTSTANDING cuisine, (They will accommodate vegetarians but vegetarians - seriously, this is Mongolia!) music, philosophy, games, and incredible conversation; this couple see themselves as Mongolian ambassadors. They do not disappoint!!! Book early!!!

5.00This day is so much more than a cooking experience. Bee and Soy were delightful. They made me feel right at home in their ger and shared their culture and traditions through telling me about their own history, our interactive food prep and cooking lesson and shared meal, playing traditional games, etc. They never tired of answering my questions. The day was full of smiles and laughter. Bee met me at my hotel and brought me back -- the transportation makes this an easy experience to add into any Ulaanbaatar itinerary.

5.00Bee and Soy exuded warmth, kindness, and hospitality during this fascinating cooking class that delved into Mongolian philosophy and culture. They shared tea, breads, and milk-based snacks, then together we prepared and ate traditional Mongolian foods. While we cooked, Bee offered much insight into human communication and connection; there is meaning and intention in these foods. I loved the sharing of songs and wishes, and I continue to think about all the events and actions that somehow led to us happening to meet today, of all days. I greatly enjoyed my time spent with this sweet couple. This class is an extraordinary opportunity you should not miss!
