Enjoy a stunning drive through Tasmania’s heart: charming towns, farmland, forest, mountains, lakes and rivers. You’ll see more of the island in one day than most do in a week — with thoughtful commentary and plenty of quiet time to take it all in.
At Cradle Mountain, we guide you inside the National Park for up to 5 hours — perfect for hiking, photographing, or simply breathing in the alpine magic.
We depart Hobart at 6am and return by 9pm.

Our guests will enjoy up to five hours inside Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park - at the Cradle Mountain / Dove Lake end. This time will go quickly as either independently, or with your Driver/Guide, you will walk the trails, hike up to high lookouts, walk around Dove Lake, visit the Interpretation Centre or just sit down and soak up the natural beauty (or a comfy chair by the fire at Cradle Mountain Lodge.) This "Big Day Out" is for lovers of nature who want to access somewhere remote but without the costs and extra packing associated with accommodation, overnight stays.
we stop in delightful Deloraine for breakfast at Mumma Buzz cafe - a fantastic menu, a beautiful country town cafe. A good breakfast here at 9am will power you through the day.

5.00Absolutely LOVED this trip! Sam was amazing - he gave us a beautiful, informative, adventure that was filled with short stops in quaint villages. I climbed to the top of Marion's lookout - this was my first hike ever (and i'm 56!).. how exhilarating! I did it!!! What a feat - I am proud of myself and the reward was a spectacular view in cool, crisp air, with new friends. Waterfalls, wombats and wallabies greeted us as we were returning down the mountain. I did 5 more tours across Tasmania and New Zealand after this one and THIS TOUR WAS MY FAVOURITE. THANK YOU, SAM!

5.00I've traveled abroad 23 times and taken many tours, but Sam was the best tour guide. He had great hospitality, he cared about all the participants and suggested changing seats. He may have found the spirit of hospitality in Japan because he has studied there. It's a long way from Hobart to Cradle Mountain, but I took a decent break and didn't feel far at all. The weather was fine on the day, you could enjoy the wonderful scenery, and I strongly recommend it to everyone.

5.00It's a full day of road trippin' with beautiful landscape views, great walking, wildlife (including wombats), and fresh air. Sam is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. If you're based in Hobart on your travels but curious about seeing a bit of the rest of Tassie while getting in some hiking or walking - this day trip is for you.

5.00This was a great experience for me. I was in Tasmania for the first time and decided to explore the areas in and around Hobart. However, as I love nature, I couldn’t miss out on Cradle Mountain. This day tour allowed me to enjoy a beautiful afternoon of trekking while being able to return to Hobart in the evening. Sam, our guide, took great care of us. He took us to lovely local businesses to enjoy delicious food and shared a lot of details about Cradle Mountain and the nearby areas.

5.00This tour really was great! It's an early start at 6am, but Sam is good enough to pick you up from close to your accommodation, so that definitely helps. There are some stops along the way (including hearty breakfast) allowing time for photos, and taking in the scenery. Sam himself is very friendly, and the group size is small at ~10 people, so you get to know everyone a bit by the end. We got to Cradle at 10:30, did a rain forest walk, Dove Lake itself at 12:30 pm, and left at 4:30 pm, so a solid 5-6 hours of exploring, with different hiking tracks available. There was also a nice dinner on the way back to Hobart. For what you get including travel there and back, ticket entry to the mountain, and several hours there, I feel the fee is pretty fair. This tour is best for people with limited time to travel up to Cradle, and if you don't have access to a car. But would definitely recommend it to anyone! Thanks Sam!

5.00I went on this experience and it was great time! The drive was gorgeous, had plenty of breaks in scenic areas and cool towns, and the perfect amount of commentary. The drive flew by, and Sam took care of everything. Even though it was stormy, it was still beautiful to experience the Cradle Mountain area. Four hours there flew by. It is one of the best parts of Tasmania, and Sam's tour makes it possible to experience even when staying in Hobart. This was the highlight of my Tasmania trip!

5.00Not only the trip was filled with beautiful landscapes, but highlighted with charming towns, picturesque trails and heavenlike Dove lake. Words cannot express how beautiful these places are!! What a fantastic tour guide and driver Mr. Sam was. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone was doing ok. I highly recommend the tour to anyone who visits Tasmania and stays in Hobart but would like to explore Cradle Mountain area. You won’s regret it! Thank you, Sam for making our time on the island more memorable!

5.00Sam was more than excellent, extremely meticulous, very detailed, organised, warm, considerate, gave ample notice of what to expect, sensitive to the needs of people and had outstanding time management. He made the long ride truly enjoyable, giving us sufficient and important breaks along the way. He went out of his way to share apples with us and provided water. He simply had all that we needed in his vehicle for our use. He even went that extra mile to bring us for star gazing which was not within the tour. I would highly recommend anyone to do cradle mountain with Sam.
