  First time in a lifetime to be able to conquer the mountain and the sea. Mr. Tung and his team Mr. Tuân, Mr. Hien, and Mr. Hang are wonderful tour guides. Couldn’t ask for anything better. 10 stars for Cat Ba Ventures.

  Overall, we had a great experience with Cat Ba Ventures. The crew were excellent, and our guide, Ninh, was particularly fantastic. On the first night he helped us go squid fishing and shared some wonderful stories about the area and his previous experiences, which really added to the trip. He truly is an asset to your team and made the experience even more memorable. The three days two nights was definitely worth it. Our only criticism is the showers need renovations, it’s not matching the other great elements of the trip. The showers are so bad they let down the rest of the trip, fix them and make them modern and functional this will be a huge improvement. The other thing is there could be a really nice angle for the business to become more ecologically conscious by letting the tourists clean up the rubbish when they go kayaking, make this part of the trip. It makes us feel good and protects your beautiful surroundings for others to enjoy too.

  

  

  

  

  

• Beautiful views, great good, and fun activities in Ha Long and La Han Bay

  From first connection, all was great! Arrangements were easy. They picked us up at our home stay on Cat Ba, brought us to the delightful boat that felt “very authentic” but was comfortable. It is an old boat which might be described as “held together by paint” so don’t expect some glitzy, luxe experience. It all added to the charm. Lunch was fantastic; the chef prepared every meal, each of which had multiple courses, with care in his impossibly tiny kitchen. Food was definitely a highlight of this trip, as nearly everywhere in Vietnam. Our guide, Ninh, was a great facilitator of understanding of the area. And politics, economy, culture of Vietnam. We kayaked, swam, cycled, explored remote caves and beaches, saw skies full of stars. We hiked up to the top of Navy Peak: tough but totally worthwhile. Fished for squid, which we then ate. Beds were comfortable and rooms were cozy. We were two couples, in our sixties, had lots of laughs, really enjoyed our time. Book with these guys if you have a taste for something cool.   It was a very well organised tour. The activities we did were great, especially the hike to the peak. The view was amazing. The boat was a little bit outdated and could do with a refit. The food on the boat was decent, but nothing special. We had 3 different guides during our tour (Ben, Jack and Tony), all of whom were very nice and spoke good English.

  We did a 2 day, one night cruise in the bays around Cat Ba. We went kayaking through caves to a beautiful lagoon and swam on a beach. Benmitto was our guide and had *lots* of interesting information. Not only about the nature, but also the history and culture. The boat was very comfortable. Booking and transportation were well organized, everyone spoke excellent English as well. The only thing that could have been better was the food. They ingredients were good, but it was made bland for tourists. Some people like that, but it would have been nice if there were one or two dishes made the traditional Vietnamese way with spices!

  It was a nice time with Daisy our guide and a relatively small colorful mixed group. We have seen, heard and tasted a lot. Daisy was funny, nice and very caring for all of us. We were always traveling in a different place, with boats, bicycle, on foot.., very varied! Daisy was a great help until the shot and even beyond. He helped us with the onward journey we were very happy about.

  Very beautiful stay on the cruise. Cat Ba Ventures was really able to bring us to the more secluded areas with less other tourists! The food was delicious and the guides Kong, Ninh and Viet were really friendly and sharing interesting cultural insights!

  Cat Ba Ventures were excellent! We were picked up in Hanoi and taken via the superb new gondola to Cat Ba where we enjoyed 3 wonderful days in the Ha Long Bay area. The boat was clean , the food was good and plentiful and we enjoyed the company of our guides. Ben has excellent English and even managed to find the Langur monkeys for us. Tony was also a good guide looking after us in the caves. Loved the trip! The transfer to our hotel in Haiphong was also very well organised

  Me and my friends enjoyed a lovely tour on Cat Ba island, Lan Ha bay and Ha Long bay. On the first night guide Jack explained us about the island’s history and nature and about the Vietnam. Very interesting! On the second day we had a lovely trekking guide who comes from a fisherman family. He told us so much about the island and helped us hiking the hill in the most kind and helpful way. When we came back on the boat there was guide Hang who entertained us by doing magic trics and playing the flute. This cruise was a wonderful, adventurous and educating experience.

  We did the 3-days/2-nights boat tour with CatBa Ventures and were overall very happy with the experience. The itinerary was well designed, taking us to beautiful, less touristy places with stunning landscapes all around. It truly felt like an authentic and unique way to explore the region. However, the quality of the tour can vary depending on the guide you get. We had two different guides across the two nights, and the difference was noticeable. The first night was average. The second night, however, absolutely exceeded all expectations — thanks to our guide Hang. Hang was exceptional. From the very beginning, he made a warm and friendly impression. He was always smiling, relaxed, and incredibly attentive. He created a genuinely welcoming atmosphere and made everyone feel comfortable and cared for. On top of that, he went above and beyond what was included in the official program: he organized his own magic show in the evening, which was such a fun and unexpected highlight. Because of Hang, our overall experience went from “average” to a true 5 out of 5 stars. He is an outstanding guide, and we can’t recommend him highly enough. If you have the chance to do this tour, we sincerely hope you get Hang — he made our trip truly unforgettable. ———— Tip for Cat Ba Ventures Organisation: Do not seperate couples during the first lunch based on dietary preferences, guides should not make you feel like you are in school again Tip for travelers: It’s super clean and comfortable however not a luxury yacht but rather a small, authentic more adventurous trip - which we loved
