Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon is easily influenced by its beauty even if you don't have any background knowledge of history. It is even ironic to feel beautiful in the castle associated with the war.

Hwaseong Fortress

Hwaseong Fortress is an impressive structure from the latter part of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). The fortress was built as a display of King Jeongjo’s filial piety towards his father.

Hwaseong Haenggung Palace

A Hwaseong Haenggung was a temporary palace where the king and royal family retreated to during a war. Hwaseong Haenggung Palace is the largest one of these, use by the Joseon kings since the time of King Jeongjo. This palace is not only being used as a shelter during war but also King Jeongjo stayed here during trips to worship at his father's tomb.

Great, in-depth introduction and exploration of the history of Suwon and the fortress walls. Easy to find meeting point. Dragon was very accommodating and knowledgeable - would highly recommend this tour!

It was a great day. Shin did a great job. He is knowledgeable guide, who knows what he is doing. Was good experience amd properly organised. We booked the tour through "Tourist Japan." But for some reason our tour this afternoon is Cancelled! Now it happends to be a halfday tour only.

Henry was a great, informative tour guide. He gave a lot of detail & background of the important events that led to the construction of the fortress, and the events that occurred there. He was also very flexible & accommodating the needs of older members of the tour.
