You learn about the history of the region as we walk through the white villages, visit Moorish castles, roman ruins, prehistorical caves...
Only by walking you get to know the "real Andalusia". We walk in very small groups of maximum 8 walkers plus your personal guide, it is like walking in a friends group. At the end of the walk we generally have some tapas in a village bar on the square (not included) and enjoy watching the laid back life of the villagers.

You will be picked up from your Hotel at about 9am, we drive in a small van to the starting point of the hiking route. On most tours even the drive to the starting point is quite scenic and you will learn about the area. The duration of the hike varies, we generally have easier walks on Mondays and Tuesdays, medium on Thursdays and a bit more challenging walks on Fridays. On most of the walks we finish at some little village and have the possibility to try some local specialities in a village bar (not always on the Friday tours). You meet like-minded people in the group and get in touch with the local people in the villages.

5.00The conclusion first: I can recommend a tour with Johanna without restriction. We were picked up on time, picked up more hikes and drove quickly to the starting point. Under Johanna’s guidance we hiked around 13 km around Istán. Best hiking weather and a group of nice people made the hours fly by. The route was quite challenging with several steep climbs. Although some of the fellow hikers had known each other for some time and from previous tours, the newcomers were well received. We found one path overgrown by heavy vegetation, a failure of the relevant organizations. Then we had to go through, a little adventure is just part of it. The final climb up to the village was a challenge in itself, so if a tour with difficulty level High is advertised, then you should already bring a certain fitness, you should remember that when booking.

5.00Wishing for challenging walks in beautiful surroundings with an experienced multilingual skilled guide in a small group? Join Sur walks tours! Johanna picks you up and drops you off for the walks at set meeting points around Estepona and Marbella. She knows the way around the mountains and shows you places and views off the beaten tracks. This is probably the 20 th walk with her through the years and we will definetely return again.

5.00In the mountains, through the (chestnut) forests, through beautiful villages, along the beautiful beach in Tarifa, the hikes with Johanna and her dog Luke take you to the most beautiful places in Andalusia. In May and October 2024 I did a total of 10 hikes. Always with different people, small group, international company, that also makes it fascinating. Many beautiful white villages seen. Often we could enjoy tapas there after the walk. Jimena de la Frontera, Casares, Pujerra, El Burgo, along the Guadalmina river, El Hacho mountain and the village of Gaucin, La Concha (house mountain near Marbella). From easy to very challenging hikes. Lots of choice of beautiful hikes. Highly recommended for anyone who loves hiking in special places accompanied by a very experienced and pleasant guide. I also learned a lot about the flora and fauna 😄 The transport is well arranged, get in and enjoy the ride. Out with Johanna and her dog Luke guarantees a beautiful, educational, sporty, fun and sometimes challenging hike!!️ Greetings from Oda

5.00We enjoyed the breathtaking views. There really aren't words to describe the natural beauty we saw on our hike! The high points were desert-like, but at the lower level there were lush plants to see. Make sure to bring more water than you think you need, as well as a light lunch. Hiking shoes are a must as this is an arduous hike by most people's standards.

5.00We always go on these walks when visiting Marbella. Excellent day out and great value - local pick up, expert guide fluent in English, German and Spanish, small groups of max.8. The walks vary in difficulty from “Boots” level 1 to the most challenging at 5. I do 1 or 2 and I always enjoy the tapas lunch all together in a mountain village after 3 hours walking 😃😎. Great way to have a fun day out and make new international friends! Highly recommended!!

5.00Great small group setting. Weather was great. Guide was very knowledgeable about flora and fauna. We saw plenty of monarch butterflies plus deer and turtles. We went to Castellar de la Frontera right after- very charming town. Strongly recommend this experience.

5.00Beautiful walk with fine group. Enthusiasm and love for the landscape is inspiring. Nice Mood, no nonsense but with all the attention for the country. Guide Johanna with Luke are fine company.
