First of all, the experience begins with the boat transfer where the team will be happy to welcome you, at the reception pontoon of your hotel, or at the Vaitape quay. Once you arrive on the motu Taufarii, you will be given a fun introduction to the fascinating history of the Polynesian black pearl, and to pearl farming techniques. Then you will board the boat to discover, while snorkeling, near a coral garden, strings of oysters in their natural environment. The oysters are dived to a depth of 1 meter, and with the team, you will be able to browse the lines of oysters, and choose your own oyster to harvest! The luckiest among you may also have the opportunity to observe manta rays! Upon returning to the motu Taufarii, our team will proceed with you to open the oysters to reveal the precious black pearls! The experience ends with the tasting of local fruits and fresh drinks, in a sublime natural setting, with a breathtaking view of the lagoon and Mount Otemanu! Everyone will leave with the pearl collected, in a small sand bottle, or in a velvet pouch. And finally, everyone will be brought back to the meeting point.

5.00Perfect for cruise ship riders as they picked us up at our tender port. They also communicated well on where/time to meet. Our tour guide, Manu, and boat driver, Taf, were fantastic! Manu was so friendly, funny, and provided great information on how the pearls are created/harvested. It was fun to pick your own oyster and see if there was a pearl inside. Most people had pearls in their oyster but mine didn’t. But they had some oysters on the side in case yours didn’t have a pearl. So you’re pretty much guaranteed a pearl, nice! Thank you!

5.00Excellent! Knowledgeable and personable staff. They explain the process well. You are made to feel safe in the water. One visitor was afraid and they brought a cage to her! Definitely a tour you don’t want to miss!

A special thank you to Tahi, who was simply exceptional. His warmth, charisma, and sense of humor made the tour immensely enjoyable, while his depth of knowledge and passion for pearl cultivation transformed it into a fascinating and enriching experience. He has a remarkable gift for storytelling and teaching, making every moment engaging and memorable. It is rare to encounter someone who is simultaneously an expert, an entertainer, and such a gracious host. The boat captain was equally impressive—welcoming, professional, and clearly a master of his craft. Navigating the stunning waters of Bora Bora appeared effortless in his capable hands, adding an extra layer of comfort and confidence to an already spectacular excursion. What sets this experience apart is the incredible value it delivers. We expected to learn about pearls; instead, we were immersed in a captivating world of culture, craftsmanship, history, and natural beauty. The level of personal attention, expertise, and genuine hospitality far exceeded anything we anticipated. 5.00This was a unique experience and one of our favorites from our honeymoon. We learned so much about the fascinating Pearl farming process and it was so fun to dive for our own oysters. Manu and Tiné were incredible hosts. Manu’s knowledge, charisma, and ability to flow effortlessly between French and English was very impressive. This is a must do!

5.00We had a wonderful time discovering the famous black pearls of Bora Bora. The experience was both fun and informative, giving us a fascinating insight into how these beautiful pearls are cultivated and harvested. The highlight was definitely opening our own oyster and finding our very own pearl inside! It was exciting, memorable, and made for a special souvenir to take home from Bora Bora. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, making the experience enjoyable from start to finish. We learned a lot about the history and importance of black pearls in French Polynesia while having plenty of fun along the way. This is an experience we would highly recommend!

4.001st off, the guides were amazing. Funny & very considerate guys. The Boat was great & we had a great time. You don't really snorkel though. You just put on a mask & snorkel to jump in the water and pickup you oyster basket thats already clipped to a rope about 10-30 feet away.

5.00It was incrrrr ! A must-do experience ! I gat my own oyster, my own purple pearl, I was so proud ! Our guide Manu was so knowledgeable and informativ ! The captain Taf was very attentive to our safety and helped us choose the best oysters — at least in my case <3 I’m grateful to both of them for a wonderful morning filled with knowledge, experience, and joy ! Definitely recommended !
