Dresden, beautifully set at the river Elbe, is one of Germany’s most wonderful cities, with the famous porcelain-like, baroque architecture dominating its silhouette. Fittingly, the capital of Saxony hides a grandiose history of princes and kings, but also its fair share of tragedies.
On our tour, we will present you with the history of the city and its current lively face. We will be sure to make you understand how the Germanic organization merged with Slavic hopeless romanticism to form one of a kind Central European fusion.

The statue of Martin Luther in Dresden stands as a testament to his pivotal role in the Protestant Reformation, symbolizing his enduring impact on religious history and the cultural landscape of Germany. It serves as a reminder of his legacy and contributions to the Protestant faith.
The Frauenkirche in Dresden is a striking example of Baroque architecture, renowned for its iconic dome and intricate detailing. Originally built in the 18th century, its reconstruction following its destruction in World War II stands as a symbol of reconciliation and resilience for the city and its inhabitants.

Our tour guide was excellent and provided a thorough picture of Dresden’s history, particularly as it related to the Saxony region and WW2. The walk was lovely with many beautiful sites to see! 10/10 would do it again.

So Viator charges €25 for this ! And the tour guide says they make only €10 from this. So we get guilt tripped into tipping them! Viator doesn’t mention that this is a free walking tour. Kind of unfair that i paid €46 in total for this! The tour is good and has the same limitations of those free walking tours. Too much info and less places covered. The icing on the cake is when the tour guide takes everything personally and argues with other guests sharing different opinions or views.

Nick knew the historical stuff, but as a guide he has many areas to improve, he can add humour to the entire tour and also plan his tour details a little better, the last time I took the radius tour, it was with an English professor (Mike if I recall correctly), that was really amazing, he made the entire tour very interesting, and also dropped me at the train station and helped me book the tickets. So depends on which tour guide you get.

Great tour covering 800 years of history in an interesting and informative manner (and with good jokes too!). Nicola made sure that everyone kept up and answered questions generously.

Great tour! The Procession of Princes was the perfect first stop. Nicholav used this porcelain tile mural to walk us through Dresden’s history…Holy Roman Empire through Napoleonic times. This set the context for the rest of the places that we saw. He was also very informative on more recent 19th and 20th century history. In 2 hours we were able to hit all the key sites. We’d definitely recommend this tour for anyone interested in Dresden’s history.

We had ordered a German tour, but the Führer could only speak English. There is no possibility to cancel or change this booking. We've broken the lead

An exceptional tour led by a PhD recipient who was articulate, fully informed, entertaining, energetic, incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I particularly appreciated his balanced and nuanced interpretation of Dresden’s history. His droll sense of humor added an amusing collection of fun anecdotes.
