It was awesome! I love ancient history and the ruins were beautiful, but I felt like I needed more time to fully immerse myself and I also would like to browse the little shops there. So many cool little trinkets and shirts to buy.

Viator was very reliable, worth the price they offered which was way less than some other sources we looked at. They were prompt in sending all required information regarding the trip, so we were well aware of what was expected. Tour guide was knowledgeable in archeology and history of the place, which added to our overall experience. Highly recommend this site.

I'm not sure that other organized bus tours would be any different. Multiple unneeded stops as mentioned in other reviews. The big store with the "Mayan village" that you stop at before Chichen Itza was a waste of time for the bus riders, but maybe less so for the vendors. The time wasted here could have been added to the THIRTY minutes you get in Valladolid. Norma was the tour guide. I found their information on the Chichen Itza tour to be very superficial. Just some basics on numerology of the Maya and their calendar. Nothing informative about the actual site of Chichen Itza. There could have been information about different architectural styles, the city's place in Mayan history, it's rediscovery and archaeological efforts that are ongoing, Mayan cosmology, or anything that would be of reasonable interest to a tourist that might only visit once. Nothing like that though. I gained more of an understanding reading the informational displays. The cenote was ultimately annoying. Bad buffet options that seemed unsafe in terms of food storage. They made you rent every little thing you could even if you paid extra for the "package". Still had to rent a towel. Valladolid was a nice and charming town. Too bad you barely have enough time to get off of the bus, get taken into an art studio to be asked to purchase things, and then get back on the bus. Once I saw it was going to be another selling stop I asked where the pickup was so I could leave the art studio. I walked around the main square and it was very pleasant. No one bothered me to buy things.

Luis is very knowledgeable and the bus driver was excellent. Loved it all except the buffet at the cenote. Luke warm food in almost empty pans was dodgy so we stopped eating it pretty quickly. We did get sick next morning early but not enough to ruin the awesome memories of the day.

Good experience, guide luis22, fluent in English, every step is arranged clearly! I have to say, the driver is cool, the duck-tongue hat and sunglasses go well together, not like the driver, more like a triad boss?

It was a fun experience. However, the Chichen Itza part itself was a little disappointing, as you can no longer get close to the sites and it is inundated with vendors, which cheapened the experience. Also, our group was a bit crowded and would have been more enjoyable with 2-3 smaller groups with dedicated tour guides.

Our tour guide Tony explained the history very well and told the stories in an interesting way. However, the bus was quite cramped. The seats were thick enough, but the leg room was very limited, so taller people will feel uncomfortable. We boarded the bus at 7:30 AM, but didn’t arrive at Chichen Itza until almost noon because the first stop was a stone factory, where we stayed for almost an hour. So this is definitely not an early-arrival tour to Chichen Itza. We were charged $42 USD / 750 MXN per person for the entrance fee, but the official price at the site was only 671 MXN including tax, which is different from what we were told. The lunch buffet was not good, and the cenote water looked dirty, so we didn’t swim. At the final stop, the town visit was supposed to be 30 minutes, but 15–20 minutes were spent being guided into a shop that we weren’t allowed to leave. In the end, we only had about 5–10 minutes to actually walk around the town. If you only want to visit Chichen Itza and don’t want to waste time at other stops, I recommend going on your own. We didn’t get back to downtown until 8:45 PM.

The tour guide has good knowledge. But, I am a bit disappointed because we are not going to the cenote chichikan as they said. Instead we are going to different cenote which is samaal cenote.
