For decades, its had a negative birth rate and millions of immigrants, meaning the inheritance of the true cuisine of old Shanghai is limited to select insiders. On this tour, you’ll try at least 10 dishes on a journey through the clandestine cuisine of old-Shanghai, hiding in plain sight in the French Concession.

Angela was our Culinary Queen in Shanghai! She was delightful and well versed in each spot that she brought us. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of food. You will not leave hungry! We loved that she took us to local treasures not just trendy spots or chain style restaurants. We also appreciated the commentary Angela provided beyond food such as architecture and every day way of life. This made our walks to our next spot interesting. She also provided us with personalized recommendations post tour such as a great restaurant for our wedding anniversary and picked dishes she thought we would like! Loved her! Book your tour today. Excellent culinary tour with Max, who made us discover places I would never have gone alone! Everything was delicious, and he took the time to explain to us each time the origin of the dishes and how they are cooked. We also visited some of the alleys of the French colonial quarter. A very good experience then! Thanks again to Max

Max led us brilliantly through an exploration of the French concession and its amazing food. Max was a perfect host, taking care to engage with everyone in the group and making sure everyone was happy. We really enjoyed the tour, but especially enjoyed Max’s company and the atmosphere he created in the group. Can’t recommend Max and the tour highly enough - it was brilliant!

Our Lost Plate dinner tour in Shanghai was an absolute highlight, thanks to Sylvia. Managing a group of eight (strangers, at that!) is no small feat, but she handled it effortlessly. She kept everyone engaged, making sure we all had fun, and created a lively, welcoming atmosphere throughout the evening. Her energy and organization meant we could relax and enjoy the food, the stories, and each other’s company. A truly 5-star experience from start to finish.

Sue was fabulous. The tour was way more than expected. Typically food tours we have been on give you skimpy tastings of different foods, but the servings on this tour was most generous and exceptionally tasty. Sue was informative, very friendly and very attentive to the needs of the group. Loved it!
