Teotitlán del Valle, in Oaxaca, is famous for the elaboration of handmade wool rugs using ancestral pedal loom techniques. What makes these rugs stand out is the use of natural pigments extracted from local plants, minerals and insects, such as cochineal, pomegranate and indigo, which gives them vibrant and long-lasting colors. This tradition, passed down through generations, reflects the rich Oaxacan culture and respect for the environment. Visiting the town is an excellent opportunity to learn about this artisanal process and purchase unique rugs made by the talented local weavers.

Hierve el Agua

We explore the petrified waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, where we will spend two hours and thirty minutes to first take a walk around and then refresh in the natural pools that store water with great mineral content. During the hike you will appreciate the different views of the set of waterfalls that exist in the place. You will also find small water springs that give life to the petrified formations. The most amazing part of the place is at the bottom, where you can appreciate the fall of the waterfall and from its base you will be able to capture the best pictures for your memories. When you come back from the hike you can refresh yourself in the pools area or just take the time to meditate and contemplate the beautiful landscape, which is surrounded by mountains that are a magnificent backdrop to the site.

Highly recommend this tour. Got to see so many amazing things in one day. The tour company was Zapoteco Tours. Our tour guide was Fanny. She was very nice and informative.

Pavel, our guide, was very knowledgeable. He explained things in a lot of detail. Be prepared for a long day as we started at 8am and got back around 8pm. Bring good hiking shoes and swim suits!

Pavel was our fantastic guide, full of info and very helpful. Hievre el Agua was a great hike with some fantastic views that are gram worthy. There is also a shower stall if you plan on swimming/changing.

Spent my birthday with zapoteco tours and head the best experience. Our guide, Fanny, was very friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Our driver Don Isra did a wonderful job taking us to each location. Would definitely book again for other tours.

Amazing day! All elements were great and the had ample time at each location, not rushed! Lunch was really tasty, remember your swimming stuff! Would recommend.

It was a wonderful experience visiting many of the bed sights near Oaxaca with our guide. We were a family of 6 with senior citizens and a child and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Starting with the Tule tree and ending with the Mezcal tasting experience we spent a lovely day with Zapoteco tours. They have very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides. Even though we spent almost 12 hours with the tour we never felt rushed. We had plenty of time at location to explore the place on our own after the guided tour part ended. It is totally worth the money. Must try!

It was a magical day with the highlight at Hierve de Aqua. We saw so much in the 12 hours and it is all well worth it. Lots of good information and very well organized and on time.
