1.00Unlike what is described on the tour page, the ticket is not purchased from the agency but directly at the ticket office the same morning forcing us to two hours in a row. Basically the tour was supposed to start at 9 but we went in at 12. Absolutely not recommended as the agency has proved to be non-transparent

1.00Since our actual trip was cancelled at short notice, we decided to take a guided tour of the Forbidden City in Beijing. At first we were grateful for the opportunity as the tickets (37.50 euros for admission and guided tour) sold out extremely quickly. We were unable to book tickets through WeChat, as this service was only open to Chinese during our visit. The price in high season usually: 60 RMB (8 euros) for adults 30 RMB for seniors and even less for students. But we were in good spirits as we promised ourselves added value through the guided tour. So when we arrived at the meeting point on time the next day we were grouped into a group of 16. Tour guide Ms. Ping introduced herself. She seemed strenuous and a little busy and spoke English quite well. She said many things in quick succession and repeated them quite often. Among other things, she told us for a long time how happy we were that we still got tickets, there were no more. Then we had to follow her to the ticket office in the forbidden city. (It was always said that it had been abolished.) She told us about a "trick" we were supposed to use to get tickets to the Forbidden City, even though they were sold out. Then she selected two men from our group who got our passports and handed them 300 RMB each. These men then sent them to the ticket queue to buy the tickets!!!! She hung out with us herself. The whole thing took an extremely long time. More than an hour. So it happened that we only had about 2 hours left for the forbidden city. (The tickets were fortunately valid all day.) Right behind the ticket control, Ms. Ping pointed out that anyone who wanted to leave the tour early was welcome to do so. Many have also taken advantage of this offer. The four of us were the sixth people to leave early. It was not good and not fair!

5.00You have to walk a lot, if you go in summer you will be very hot, bring water, sunscreen, hat, cap, etc. The guide will warn you in advance of what you can introduce or not introduce in the tour. The excursion is in English. The guide will take you around the city making good reviews about everything you see and pending that you do not get lost and indicate the points where you can find bathrooms, shops, drinks, etc. No burden.
