Ecola State Park
After driving through the lush Coast Range Mountains, our first stop will be at one of our coastline's most breathtaking vistas which inspired William Clark (of the famous Lewis & Clark Expedition) to write in poetic fashion when his party first arrived in 1805, “… I beheld the grandest and most pleasing prospects my eyes had ever surveyed in front of a boundless ocean!”. That same sense of wonder still rings true for all who stand at Ecola Point, feel the salty sea air upon their face and cast their gaze out over the swirling blue-green waters of the mighty Pacific. The striking shoreline is dotted with dozens of dramatic basalt islands and arches, complimented by windswept rolling hills decorated with gnarled, ancient Sitka Spruce trees. Ecola has many beautiful locations of interest to explore and we may take a deeper dive into the park to search for wild herds of Roosevelt Elk, black bear, bald eagles, osprey, raccoons and even the mythical Sasquatch who roam these very forests!
Indian Beach
If the flow of the day and time allow, sometimes your guide will choose to visit Indian Beach and stroll along the vast stretch of this exceedingly picturesque surfing beach peppered with rocky islands. As another fun option, sometimes we enjoy a short hike to a stunning viewpoint while walking through lush temperate rainforest filled with huckleberries, salmonberries, thimbleberries, ferns, lichens and liverworts which grow prolifically upon the colorful tapestry of the forest floor. Stroll through this unique forest surrounded by towering old-growth Spruce, majestic Hemlock and sacred Western Red Cedar arboreal giants! Your guide will unravel the myriad fascinating Native American uses of many of these forest treasures and we'll discuss some of the cinematic fame these forests and beaches have garnered throughout the years!

This trip to the coast was so much fun and so educational. Our guide Cameron kept us engaged with lots of information and fun facts all the way to the first stop along the coast and then some. The stop for some refreshing water along the road was so unique. The van picked us up at the designated downtown location right on time and after that the fun began. The Oregon coast is very beautiful and the coastal town we stopped in for lunch (Cannon Beach) offered lots of restaurants and lots of shopping opportunities. At one stop we were surrounded by moose who casually strolled along posing for photos while eating. The weather on the day we went was absolutely perfect and everyone in the completely full van got to know each other a little bit. It was a very enjoyable trip that I really recommend as a way to see the Oregon coast.

Our guide was Jim who provided the perfect commentary and info throughout our day long trip. He knew exactly where to take us to the access points for Haystack Rock, Ecola State Park and in Cannon Beach. His recommendations were spot on and he even was lookout for elk. To our excitement we saw 3 in a yard and he knew exactly where to spot additional members of the herd including the bull! Perfect trip, perfect day.

This was my first tour, and it was such a great experience. Jim was my guide, and he was so friendly and welcoming and he answered so many of my questions that weren’t even tour specific….i am very excited to try all of his recommendations. Seriously….give this man a RAISE!! He definitely takes good care of his passengers. I honestly wish the tour was longer given that the drive there and back takes up a good portion of the day. But nonetheless, everything that we saw and learned about was amazing! Would definitely recommend if you want a more “chill” activity to do that will definitely yield a great night’s sleep at the end of the day.
