Set in the middle of a 3-mile (5-km) wide volcanic crater, Sete Cidades' forest-blanketed slopes and lake scattered valleys are the ideal place for an off-road adventure. Explore the area with a local guide and make a special trip to Ponta da Ferraria, where thermal pools offer unique swimming chances. Join your guide as they pick you up from your Ponta Delgada hotel, where you can hop in an off-road capable 4x4 and head out into the countryside, winding along dusty roads that lead to sweeping viewpoints. Hear about the island's geologic history and the eruption that occurred here more than 1500 years ago, and pass by the Neo-Gothic features of the city's historic parish before grabbing lunch at a locally loved restaurant. The restaurant has in general typical Azorean (similar to Mediterranean cuisine) food and several options between fish and meat, stew, grilled…. In the afternoon, head to rugged headlands and rocky shorelines of Ponta da Ferraria. Follow your guide to places where the island's geothermal forces bubble up inside tide-filled pools. Consider taking a dip in the steaming waters or simply snap photos of the crashing waves before you hop back in your ride and return to your hotel. Besides the lunch hour and the ferraria Stop, along the tour several stops will be made to enjoy important viewpoints. The stops duration can be adjusted but in general not longer than 10 minutes each. In general the tour will take about 7 hours from pick-up to drop-off. POI / Stops: Sete Cidades village, Pico do carvão view, Santiago view point, canary lake area, empadadas lakes area, peninsula areas, cumieiras, tunel and twin lakes margins, amog other stops. Bathroom are available on most stops. Our 4X4 Vehicle is a comfortable jeep 8 seater, with 6 spots available for tour. The vehicle normally a Land cruiser is fully equipped whit fire extinguisher, first aid kit and other safety equipment Aproximate time of the end of the tour 4PM

5.00My partner is disabled and unable to access public transport and the need to take the wheelchair, I booked a full day private trip so I could decide the numbers to make it totally accessible. Our guide Luis welcomed us up at the dockside. He was friendly, informative and nothing was too much trouble. His knowledge and passion for the island was obvious as we toured. The ride in the jeep was much more comfortable than expected, even off road. We went around the top of the volcanic craters on all sides with fantastic views and photo opportunities then down to the side of the volcanic lake, to take in the beautiful surroundings close up. We stopped for a lovely cup of coffee in the village and again on the way out we stopped for a snack from a local cafe.. Luis was friendly and had a great sense of humour, he made sure that we all had a fantastic day. It was a great opportunity to go off the beaten track, he explained the history behind the places we visited. Thank you for a brilliant day. Travellers besure to ask about Angus. 😁

5.00A jeep tour to Sete Cidades had been on our bucket list for a very long time, especially with the opportunity to experience the breathtaking coastal hot springs of Ponta da Ferraria. This is not a trip you could easily do on your own — you really need local knowledge to know which off-road tracks and hidden routes to take. Sadly, the weather was against us all day. Heavy rain and thick fog meant we could hardly see any of the famous views of Sete Cidades, one of the most beautiful volcanic craters on São Miguel. On what was supposed to be our big “view” day, we saw almost nothing. But this is exactly where our guide Marcio showed what makes a truly great tour guide. Instead of letting the day feel disappointing, he worked incredibly hard to keep our spirits up, changing the itinerary throughout the day, keeping us engaged with interesting conversations, local stories, and authentic experiences. He took us to the charming fishing village of Mosteiros with its black-sand beach and lava pools, and later to a family-run pineapple plantation where we learned how much hard work goes into growing the famous Azorean pineapple. We also had a wonderful local lunch and, despite the weather, we left feeling grateful for the experience and the memories created. Sometimes a trip becomes special not because everything goes perfectly, but because of the people you meet along the way. Thank you, Marcio, for your genuine kindness, effort, and for turning a foggy day into one we will never forget.

5.00Fantastic day with our tour guide! He navigated the roads so well and we experienced the very best attention and site information along the way. The lunch buffet was so tasty - highly recommend the full day trip. Having a sunny day meant seeing all the wonders of this gorgeous area

5.00Our tour guide Delfim, was amazing! Friendly and VERY knowledgeable! Stopped along the side of the road to pick wild nasturtium, fennel and wild garlic for us to taste. Full of information regarding the way of life on Sao Miguel Island and every thing to see, as well as interesting facts about flora and fauna! We had rather a foggy and windy day, but he made the best of it and tried to change our scheduled route so we could have chance to see more. Lunch was delicious and he explained how the dishes were prepared and encouraged us to try everything. Delfim made our excursion a wonderful memory, we highly suggest booking your next tour with him & T4W!
We took the four-wheel-drive excursion Sete Cidades, it exceeded our expectations, you must travel with them!

5.00It was an amazing trip! We saw many different things: nature, the ocean, rocky coasts, beautiful landscapes... We had a very good driver who took us over winding roads, it was very exciting. He also gave us a very interesting explanation about different things. At noon, we had a delicious lunch with different kind of fish. We enjoyed the trip and recommend it very much. It was a pleasure to chose for T4W.

5.00It was just Amazing and Wonderful. Philippe showed us all the spendid sites in ths west part of the island. We had a good thermal bath, visited a beautiful beach, saw numerous cows and lakes... The guide is very knowledge and speaks good english
