Yes, Puerto Rico is an island but for locals, this is a common saying meaning to see the island beyond San Juan. In this tour, you’ll be able to explore the breathtaking views the South of the Island has to offer. Walk through the beautiful neoclassical buildings that decorate the town square of Ponce, the second-largest city in Puerto Rico, and explore why the city gets the name Ciudad Señorial. Make your way into Guánica, the paradise of eternal summer, home of the Dry Forest, declared a United Nation’s World Biosphere Reserve. Enjoy a dip at Playa Jaboncillo, a hidden clear water gem inside the forest with an amazing view of the Bay of Guánica. Finish your day with a visit to the Salt Flats of Cabo Rojo and take a dip at Buyé Beach.
For guests that come in cruise ships to the town of Ponce, the tour can be arranged to fit your time at shore.

I learned so much from her plus she’s a very fun person to be around which made this tour feel like a friends’ roadtrip. We stopped at so many beautiful spots and she took the best pictures of me! 5.00Due to a rescheduling we had to do the tour on January 1., so unfortunately the Taino ceremonial center was closed, but our tour guide Laura planned a more customised experience four us. It was in general a nice and long day 12hours) a little bit too much driving and little time at certain locations but we see at least a lot from the southwest part of the island.

The Southwestern Puerto Rican Tour was hands down the best experience of our entire trip. If you are looking for an authentic taste of Puerto Rico, look no further than Sofrito Tours LLC. We saw a side of the island many travelers miss—from the beauty of the ocean to the rich history of the cities. Laura is knowledgeable, kind, and clearly passionate about her culture. 5.00If you want to get to know the island outside of the tourist spots, without having to rent a car and maneuver the different driving style in PR, all the while learning about PR directly from a local - this is the tour for you!!! This is one of the best excursions I have done hands down, with beautiful sights and meeting great people. I left PR feeling like I actually got to see and know the island. Highly recommend!

Exploring beyond San Juan, we discovered amazing natural and historical gems, with breathtaking drives through the mountains from one stunning landscape to another. 5.00Jan Carlo was outstanding . He really nailed the road trip vibe that we were hoping for and it felt like we were traveling around with a close friend that we had known for years. He tailored our trip to meet our own interests and we feel like we made a friend for life! We would definitely go on a sofrito tour again!

5.00Laura was great. It ended up being just me and my two teens on the tour, and she catered our tour to what we were interested in seeing. She was very knowledgeable and I am confident she could/would cater to the desires of any other group and their interests. We definitely saw things we would not have found on our own and she also gave us tons of great information for our remaining time in Puerto Rico.

5.00Jan Carlo was an amazing guide and the trip was perfect. I learned a lot about the island and never felt like I was in a bunch of “touristy” places. Jan Carlo went the extra mile to ensure we had a great time. He was knowledgeable and talked just the right amount! I would definitely book another tour with this company.
