  Wear a jumper on the ferry and take some pencils/writing books and sugar free sweets for the kids on the journey. Baboucarr is a chilled out friendly fella who made it a great experience, our 4x4 driver, forgotten his name sorry, was also great and got us through the border crossings smoothly.

  Babou Carr our guide was simply excellent throughout the day. He made joining the ferry simple through the throng of humanity going about its daily business. We then met a good driver for the journey to and around the park. We had a great view of the animals. It’s useful to see this as a UK ‘Safari Park’, but with a more natural setting and weather. Most of the big game animals are not (now) native to Senegal, but they are well protected. Lunch was in a local restaurant and introduced us to local dishes The drive each way gave us a glimpse of rural life in both countries. On return, the ferry was out of action, so our guide organised a private pirogue trip for a few Dalasi a head rather than a 6-hour wait. I still pity the chap who had to wade out to the boat with me on his shoulders! This unintended excursion from the plan really added to the day. Mist thoroughly recommended.

  Great 😊 everything was perfectly arranged. We saw all the animals so we are lucky. Pick up was on time, lunch was good and guide was well informed

  Baboucarr our Guide was amazing from start to finish. Incredibly professional, he looked after us from start to finish. On the trip you get to experience real Gambia with the locals getting the ferry across to Barra before you meet your safari driver. Everyone was super friendly. Fathala was great we saw all the animals & luckily we’re the first to find the giraffes as they can be shy. We didn’t want to go in with the lions our personal choice. Had a great day. On the way back you stop for lunch we had the local dish domada (peanut stew) but there are lots of choices. Before heading back on the ferry back to Banjul. (Get to see the market in Senegal & Banjul) I would suggest to bring sweets, pencils, note pads for the children, as they will love it & are so grateful. A fabulous day

  Organised the day prior and even though my hotel wasn’t listed as a pickup, I was able to be picked up on time and in a comfortable vehicle. Baboucarr helped me with Senegal immigration when the guards wouldn’t allow me to cross but he spoke to them and helped out. The day at Fathala was amazing and I got to do the lion walk but also see so much wildlife and had as much time as I needed to take photos and enjoy. If you’re looking for a day trip from The Gambia, book with Baboucarr because he’ll make your day so much more enjoyable with heaps of information throughout the day!
